Just Gotta Say...Vanilla is still fun as fuck 10 years later

Seeing a lot of doom and gloom with bugs and glitches and whatnot, but I'm glad to return to a place and be able to reminisce at least a little bit. Nostalrius ain't perfect, and there's some small details and polish missing, but the general experience is still there. There's a level of consistency with vanilla WoW that kinda gets placed to the side with later expansions when quick traveling is easy as fuck and you don't really have to interact with people anymore. Professions on the whole, also seem more worthwhile.

I'm also starting to realize that because the game is so old and it changed so much, actually having to look up things has become harder again, which kinda gave me more of an incentive to read the quests and take it slowly.

How does the game feel to you timers and post Cata folks who never experienced vanilla?

As a person who played vanilla back when it was relevant, I completely agree. I've played every expansion since, and once I rolled a toon on this server just to play around a bit. But literally within a day or two of playing on this server I have yet to log into my WoD account again. I had forgotten just how great WoW was back in vanilla. I think the part I enjoy the most is the sense of community you get with the other players on the realm. Whether it be questing together, running dungeons, or the occasional grouping to gank some alliance, it's nice to meet people you have a good chance of doing things with in the future. Cross realm on retail has slowly made the current version of WoW and empty she'll of what it once was.

But nowadays I play vanilla on this server exclusively and I need to just cancel my WoD subscription since I don't enjoy playing that like I do vanilla.

100% agree, Vanilla was/is the best. Glad I was able to rope some friends into it, because it sure is fun running around all the old zones, old instances like we used to in college.

I've heard the same thing from others, cross realm stuff just killed it. Glad to have quit when I did.

I never played during Vanilla, but I did start playing around the time Black Temple was released in TBC. While I believe there were changes to leveling in TBC, Nost still feels a lot more similar to what I remember than what I get logging onto my retail account.

Honestly, I'm pretty hype for Nost's TBC server so I can recreate my very first character that came to a tragic (and stupid) end. It'll probably take another lots of years for the TBC server to be ready, but I'm definitely gonna play the shit out of it when it is ready.

I have slightly higher ping here on this server than Emerald Dream, but the lag is fantastically better?

I have 0 problems in melee casting abilities, it's actually fun.

Love this server, hope whitekidney doesn't destroy it.

I agree Maeven. I'm actually to the point I've had dreams or couldn't sleep from thinking about the server, haven't had that happen from a game since....vanilla 10 yrs ago.

The amount of peeps and therefore the possibillity to play at any time of day reasonably, which due to my work scedule can differ quite a bit, is the only reason im here.
I know its 2 weeks and hopefully gets fixed enough within a year or too.
Also spawn rates not being adjust to playerbase... well have fun with them grinds...
All in all i felt dissapointed as too hype went down quite a bit.
