So i lost 1.5g and i don't give a crap abut it. What i care about is this server rep since i plan to play a lot here. If the staff allows this kind of shit to keep going i assure you that 1.5 gold tiny scams will escalate a lot more and this server will turn to shit.

So maybe we should all start doing this and make it a part of our regular income now? Take the gold from the newbs. A way to go seems to me.

The scam:
I get a mail from some1 called "Auctionhouse". Since i had a lot of stuff selling on ah, normally i was thinking hey something sold! nice. I am picking up all the gold form mailbox without paying a lot of attention to what im really doing. Then i realized that from one of the mails i didnt get gold from ah, but instead i was paying cod to some1 for a "plain letter" item. The scamer also presented him self in the letter as a part of the server staff and was telling me that item "id: 12312"(dont rememer the number) was not found and that i am getting refund for that item. So im thinking maybe thats somehtng that happens on private servers and thats how they handle things here and i press accept. BAM! i lost 1.5g :( and i was just about to go to my trainer to learn some new spells GG

The account with a character called Auctionhouse NEEDS TO BE PERMA BANNED, his IP TOO!!

I remember things like this happening in retail. I don't think there's any serious punishment you can get for it.

These kinds of mail are easy to identify though. Just ignore them and be smart with your money.

Not bannable, pay more attention. People have sent me this exact same scam (even back on retail) and its pretty obvious that its a scam, especially when it says C.O.D on it. Don't fall for the scam, use your brains.

Scamming is against the ToS and results in a suspension. Multiple suspensions leads to a perma ban. So no you're both wrong read the ToS.

Actually bannable (as can be seen here http://i.imgur.com/oZS5k8t.jpg?1). And that people shouldn't fall for a scam is not an excuse for the deed. A scam, however poorly crafted, is still an act that brings down the experience for the community either as a whole or for (what may be a few) individuals in that community. No reason to let these scumbags go on.

I agree, people that do this are dicks, don't get me wrong, but come on, its so obvious to not fall for it. If you're that brain dead then just learn from your mistake and don't do it again. Yes it sucks, but if they were able to outsmart anyone then well... its genius on them or stupidity on the victim. It literally says C.O.D on the mail, and really, anything from the staff will have the Blizzard logo all over it and say Customer Support. Use your brains people, its like people falling for those Nigerian scams on eBay or those dating sites, just use your brains, its not hard.
