Clicked on a link in the beginners thread to download an addon pack all it did was download some janky @$$ program and EZdownloader now my computer has "8 threats detected" what the hell is going on is this some kind of trick to play on new people to this server or what, now I probably have to completely format my computer!!!

What link was that? You should report that to the guy who linked it.

Hi Zeigler,

You most likely accidentally clicked an advertisement rather than the proper download button. I would recommend using adblock (Adblock Plus with non-intrusive Ads disabled is good) software in the future to reduce this from accidentally occurring going forward.

It's important that new players have a positive first experience with the server so I'll ask the user of that thread or someone that has the power to modify that post to change the link to a less risky download site.

I do have Adblock...

It may not be working correctly. Unless you clicked on the one I've marked than you probably got it from clicking an ad. Either way it's a bad site to use for public downloads and I'll see if it can be changed. Thank you for reporting it.

AdBlock doesn't protect you from a virus. It protects you from ads.

In the future tho pay attention to what you're downloading and installing.

AdBlock doesn't protect you from a virus. It protects you from ads.

Properly configured AdBlock would have reduced the risk of clicking an Ad that pushed this specific Malware. I apologize for recommending it in the first place. It was not my intention to get into a discussion as to what's effective in a layered security strategy to reduce your threat surface for the infection of Malware. The bottom line is that a player on this server should not be offered such a risky download I should have strictly recommended the use of a safer download site.
