Line of sight in Vanilla

I am curious on how los works in Vanilla, and whether it works as intended or actually is broken here on Nostalrius.
I for one, am seriously pissed how hunters shoot through terrain and large doodads or buildings, how life drain follows you no matter behind what you hide, how mages seem to flame blast you without much fucks given as you try to los them behind a giant tree, and well, I'm sure most melee players can relate to the giant amount of blatant los exploits going around.

So is it bugged, or just Vanilla's way of saying another 'fuck you'?

Hi ZanTheBonebreaker,

The purpose of Nostalrius is to offer an experience as close as possible to original game, including elements of gameplay that are contested.
Shooting through trees is allowed on original WoW. In Warsong gulch, a lot of terrain doodads can be fired through as well. It never happens with buildings though (if I am right). The LOS map of WSG gulch on Nostalrius is a very accurate copy of retail's version. In the case of Warsong, it is not even specific to Vanilla. That version of LOS map is still the one currently used on Blizzard's servers.

Most trees and the actual ground do not have any LoS restrictions. Channeled spells will persist through LoS if they were cast before the target went out of LoS.

This has been true for every single revision and expansion in WoW. The fact that you're just now picking up on it is worrisome.

Trees obstructing line of sight is a common thing on private servers, however on retail vanilla it was not.

Arcane missiles shooting at some guy on his epic mount across all of wsg is hilarious though since channeled spells aren't being stopped when out of range.

must be an arcane missiles thing, since drain life has a bugged range to be too short.

You can't shoot through wsg stumps on retail
