This rule is completely non-blizzlike, and puts stress on me and other players when we're playing battlegrounds and need to go AFK for any reason. I've gone AFK in BGs to make some food, use the bathroom, go to the store, take a phone call, but generally I'm a contributing player, and I find this non-blizzlike rule to be a nuisance.

Not only is it non-blizzlike, it is an extreme rule that might result in a permanent ban. I think it's ridiculous!

Find another answer if you really want to deal with this sort of behaviour. I think the community can begin to hate/ostracize people who do this, and Nostalrius shouldn't involve themselves.

If you have more important stuff to do, than participate in a BG, then leave the battleground. I find it absurd that you expect your group to carry you for anything more than a quick piss break. "go to the store" ridiculous.

Go to the store??? It's away from KEYBOARD. Not away from HOUSE.

As others have stated, if you have to go, then just leave the BG.

As Igen stated, this is likely just to prevent honor leechers. It takes multiple violations for the punishment to become severe, and you will be warned with each flag on your character. If you gotta go afk to take a piss, say so in BG chat. No one will report you. If you just stay on the side of the map jumping every two to three minutes consistently in games, you will be reported, warned, and eventually banned.

If you need to afk, /afk out. The deserter debuff is 15 minutes. If you're going to the store, it takes about that long for the debuff to fade

what I want to know is at what point does it flag you "AFK" in a BG? How much idle time before you are considered "AFK'?

Assuming you don't have lazypig's autosave command enabled, just sit idle in your capitol city until your character automatically gets the afk tag. Takes about 3 minutes

ah? not on me for sure... cuz when i tag BG, it s to play battleground and kick some asses not to wash my car, have hush hush relation with my hand or goin on holyday with my mother in law... but if, suddenly, i cant postpone a hush hush while i BGing, then i type /afk with my fingers on my keyboard cuz i m a smart jimboguy...

Try it, it s not very difficult.
