Why such a high level req for /1?

I understand you want to reduce spam/trolls and whatnot, but level 10? Suffering though levels 1-10 was more fun being able to socialize on general chat.. Now I feel like I'm playing retail again where no one is chatting.

This is to raise the bar of entry for spammers. The lonely pain you feel leveling to 10 will shadow the otherwise problems of spammers for players and GMs.

Why not make it to level 6 then? Anyone who comes on the server just to spam wouldn't have the patience to level to 6. But if they do, then they planned to spam regardless and the level req wont change a thing, just look at barrens for example.

Raising the level will require them to use more resources which will reduce the number of lazy spammers and slow down the determined spammers. It will probably continue to be adjusted as needed.

Edit: Think of it this way. You only need to level from 1-10 a few times however the spammers need to level from 1-10 to get only a few minutes of spamming if they're lucky before getting banned so it greatly exponentiates the investment of resources reducing their cost benefit of spamming and slowing their ability to recover after getting banned.

1-10 is usually 2 hours if played right, just put on your favorite playlist and jam out until you get to the next area. Trust me, there will be talking...

The level requirement was applied to chat channels because of throw away accounts being used to spam or advertise. They must now invest/play an account for a period of time before they can do this, which they honestly won't bother doing. No gold advertisement will be tolerated on our server. Speaking of buying gold, I suggest you don't do it, because if you're banned for this, the site used will probably keep your money. Do not mention any of their sites on the forum or within the game, because a), using these is prohibited, and b), you're just giving them more free advertisement. Like a real economy, you're supposed to work for gold. You do not buy money with money in real life, thus you should not buy gold with money in a game.

Such a shame. The first friends you make between 6 and 12 (the end of your starting area) make you feel the community is alive. Without it what a beginner will see is just grinding in a silent world.
This is honestly the most stupid idea this staff ever had at the moment. Put it at 5 or something, but don't be full retard. Never go full retard.

You sound extremely paranoid.

Blizzard had to deal with this on a MUCH bigger scale, and they never took these measures. You guys are becoming like Feenix. Stop it. I haven't seen this on any private servers either.

Level 10 completely kills chat in Durotar, Dun Morough, Tel Drassil, Elwynn Forest, and Mulgore. The realm is filled with life, and you're suppressing it. Do you really want your crusade against gold trading which so few people on the realm partake in to affect the playerbase so adversely?

This crusade is pointless. Everyone knows where to go to buy gold, and find sellers. Everyone knows gold selling/buying exists. Anyone can ask another person if they're truly unaware. If the demand exists, it will be met.

I really think you need to stop this Kraft. You're stealing from the life of the realm. I logged into Elwynn Forest yesterday to see it buzzing with activity, people chatting in general, and LFM for hogger and Princess Must Die, things like that, looking for groups to level with in general. Now this can't happen again.

You're destroying the experience. The first few levels are what give people the biggest impression of it, and for you to tamper with this is insane. If you could restrict /trade and /general-Orgrimmar and /general-Ironforge to level 10s, that might be a bit more sensible, but what you've done isn't right.

I hope this is changed fast before the damage is felt.

I feel the same way as OP, Keldan, and DrunkenEnvy. I understand the need to weed out spammers and the like but it also made the server alive with everyone talking in general chat in the starting areas/zones (lvls 1-10). I also find it personally annoying as the last time I played Vanilla WoW very actively was when it first came out about 10 years ago and I can't always remember how some of the quests went or at what levels I get certain skills and the like. Maybe changing the cap to around 5-6 when people first leave the starting zones like Northshire Abbey/Valley of Trials, etc. to avoid throwaway accounts and gold spammers. If people and possible spammers really wanted to make these accounts for the hell of it or to spam, they're just going to get to level 10 anyway, making it a moot point.
