"Raid-buffs" only affect the single group you belong to?!

by Mackee95 » Thu Feb 05, 2015 12:18 pm

I've done some research, but I still can't find an answer to my question... Since I did all the 60 content that was available, starting from TBC, during retail, I have never truly experienced "Vanilla"-gaming.
So I'm just asking this quick question --- Is it truly blizzlike that group/raid buffs such as [Arcane Brilliance] or [Prayer of Fortitude] only affected the group you belonged to?! As if you are in a raid with 40 people, and you belong to group two, the buff should only affect the players in your grou (group two)... Or is it supposed to be affecting the whole raid, as in todays retail?!

Only group yes, so rebuffing can be a hassle at times if people slack ;-)

Back then buffs were pretty much group-wide only. Including totems.
Sorry. It's a bit of a nuisance, yes. But at the same time it makes the group formations of raids a lot more restrictive (which is also a pain sometimes) but also defines some of the classes and specs and where they come into raid benefits to their respective group of melees/casters/etc.

It affects your target + the group the target is in, not the one you belong to. Basicly all buffs are group based, battle shout, totems, blood pact, etc etc.

If its true, that the 1.4 patch was released on the 8. April, we will not be able to group-buff the people at the release of the server. Good old nasty single buffing

the "Codex:Prayer of Fortitude II" got first time datamined at the 11th April:

Aren't we running 1.12 class mechanics though?

Remember that paladin-buffs are class-wise, not group wise ;)
No member ever downed a raid boss, by dying for his guild. He killed the raid boss, by DPS'ing it down to zero.

Viper wrote:New update regarding items:

Good news, we succeed to recreate the whole timeline for each equipment which can be found in Vanilla :)
It's a major event since players will be able to experience the instance unlocking being synchronized with equipment characteristics' updates.

For the release, around 450 items will be modified (including statistics and quality) and several hundreds of items won't be available.

Since the server will launch with PvP activities, it won't be possible to start from Vanilla 1.0 regarding items specs. The main reason is the unbalance between PvP gear (created in 1.4) and PvE gear.

Consequently, all the items found at server release will be items prior to 1.4 patch, except for a few items.

For the first time in private server history, players will be able to have equipment in line with the timeline of dungeon releases. Once a new dungeon is unlocked, items will be automatically updated as if it were a retail patch.

It will give you a better taste of the difficulty you could experience back then.

Best Regards,
Nostalrius

Regarding to Viper's Post there will be several hundreds of items missing at release. It could be possible, that those items are the exception he is talking about. Well, we will see that in about 2-3 weeks, when people are reaching the endcontent.

Buffs work in one of these ways:
A) Your target.(ie Fortitude)
B) Your group.(ie Battle Shout, auras or totems)
C) Your target+its group.(ie Prayer of Fortitude)
Buffing a whole raid means casting a group buff 8 times, one for each group. But keep in mind that you generally have more than 1 of each class, so if you have say, 4 Priests, you're only looking at 2 Prayers each to cover a raid.

Greater Blessings work a little differently. They hit every player in the raid that is the same class as your target. This is an example: http://db.vanillagaming.org/?spell=25898
Make Shaman cry.
