1) Is enslaving Winterspring demons OK? It was doable in early retail and then changed at some point later on.

2) Will PvP items be purchasable using the "highest rank" or only current rank?

1. Yes
2. I believe its your current rank.

Your current rank is checked to buy them, but you can still use & equip them if you loose that rank .

It was a huge oversight by blizz way back then if it was based on current rank.

Pretty sure it was "highest rank", but you still needed R6 (or w/e) to get into the instanced hall to buy it.

Can a GM please confirm his 1st question?

It's pretty simple.

Your current Rank has to be at least equal to or greater than the Rank required by a piece of equipment in order to buy it. However, if you lose that Rank after you bought an item, you can still use it, basically meaning that your highest Rank is checked afterwards (which is kinda pointless to add, since if you had the proper Rank to buy an item, then your highest Rank will always be alright to use it).

During early Vanilla, for a short amount of time after PvP was implemented, you had to keep your Rank in order to be able to keep an item. This is not the case as of 1.12.
