Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

I am nightelf hunter at lvl10, trying to finish my pet quest. After I tamed sider then moved to the second step in the quest chain. However I cannot tame the nightsaber stalker. I've tried all the things I could do in private server, like abandon the quest and reaccept, relog, destroy the tame rod, everything. still could keep saying invalid target. I am pretty sure I got the right thing as instructed in quest (nightsaber stalker). I logged my ticket in game but no replies from any GM. Can anyone help me with that? or it is just another shitty server?

You need to dismiss/abandon pet from the first step of the quest. And kill it.

Oh, really? So it doesn't work anymore even if i relog and abandon the quest? Does it mean i need to start over again and spend another 3-4hrs get to lvl10? That's just great!!

Or, recall the pet you tamed from the last part of the quest and dismiss/abandon it. And kill it.

I have the same problem right now. I cant find any solution or GM to talk to. Did you fix this?

delete the WDB folder and restart the game

each new part of the quest you get a new taming rod

make sure you abandon the pet you tamed before, then use the new taming rod that is specific for the new pet you need to tame
