Problem with addons for mac

by Danielnielsen19 » Mon Aug 10, 2015 3:36 pm

Hello Everyone!

I cannot get any addons to work, i have tried downloading and adding a bunch of diffrent addons, who were supposed to work for the mac version of the game. Is this because there simply arent any working addons for the mac version?
Pease help

AddOns are platform independent and should work just as fine on Mac and Windows.

What's the problem exactly? Do the AddOns show up in the AddOn list in the character selection screen? Do you get any errors?

The folder should be named AddOns.

Also, maybe you have multiple versions of WoW installed at the same time (i.e., Retail and Vanilla)? Are you sure you put the AddOns into the correct installation directory?

And the World of Warcraft app that you start is also the one from the "world of warcraft 1.12.1" folder?

Did you make sure to extract the AddOns from their Zip archives before putting them into the AddOns folder?

Sorry if these questions seem much too basic, but these are the only remaining problems I can imagine.

I don't know Macs but if they have a "Open File Location" command like Windows does, verify that the shortcut you're launching WoW from is the location where you stuck your addon files. In Windows, you can right-click a shortcut and select "Open File Location" which takes you directly to the install folder where the program resides. That'll tell you for sure if you installed the addons to the correct WoW folder.

Your WoW folder directory should look like this regarding addons:

World of Warcraft Classic\Interface\Addons\<all your addon folders>

There can't be any extra layers of folders between "AddOns" and the addon folders themselves. Like if you unzipped/extracted addons from a zip or rar file, you have to copy/paste the folder that contains the addon files themselves, not the unzipped/extracted folder.

A correct addon directory would look like this:
World of Warcraft Classic\Interface\Addons\Auctioneer
World of Warcraft Classic\Interface\Addons\Bagnon
World of Warcraft Classic\Interface\Addons\Questie

An incorrect addon directory would look something like this where there's extra folders padded between the directory:
World of Warcraft Classic\Interface\Addons\Vanilla Addons\Auctioneer
World of Warcraft Classic\Interface\Addons\Addons\Bagnon
World of Warcraft Classic\Interface\Addons\Questie\Questie

Right click on your WoW launch icon (e.g. if you have it in the task bar.)
Under "Options ->" select "Show in Finder."
The finder window will pop open where the installed version that you are using is located. From there navigate down to Interface\AddOns. Make sure that each addon is installed in a directory with it's name.
The files in that directory should include a *.toc, *.lua, etc. set of files.

Note that "AddOns" on my system is capitalised like that. Some mac filesystems are case sensitive, so you might need to make sure it is capitalised correctly.
The pizza level in my bloodstream is dangerously low.
