Would it even be possible to make an addon like this?

So I used to play H1z1 a bit, and I enjoyed being able to queue up my mic when I wanted to speak with someone instead of having to type something.

Would an addon enabling this even be possible in wow? Where people with the addon could communicate via microphone in game? (And even make it directional, so that you could tell which direction the voice was coming from?)

I'm guessing this is probably beyond impossible with the current API and programming limitations, but I thought I would ask, since I think it would be a neat addon for those wishing to participate.

As it stands, this isn't possible without the help of external programs such as Ventrilo, Mumble, or any others. Blizzard didn't implement any voice controls for their internal voice chat until further expansions, and even then it lacks a lot of features and reliability.

And with using an external program to communicate, you won't have any sort of directional audio or in-game notifications showing who is speaking (with the exception of Mumble which shows an overlay and highlights a name on a list).
