There's a soft green glow around friendly plates to differentiate, since I've twitched a couple of times thinking I was going to get ganked in ironforge :P

Is it actually possible to show both enemy + friendly plates at once?

This one is already covered for; if someone starts casting a new spell before the other ends, the older one gets replaced. Tracking stuns/interrupts etc is more or less trivial (just didnt think about it LOL). only thing that might be trickier to track is untalented counterspell as I don't think it shows on the combat log

Luna doesn't include CS in its table so I assume not. There's also instances when a player will move to cancel casting — but I'm not sure there's any way to check for that

Maybe if we have access to a unit's distance from the player and yes you can display both friendly and hostile nameplates. I also prefer to have class colors on nameplates only to hostile players but obviously not a big deal

beyond 'out of range' checks can you actually pull that info? i always assumed it was under lock and key.

how does this look in terms of indicating friendly players? same rules as blizzard's colouring: blue = friendly non-pvp, green = pvp.

if that's not clear enough to pick out i'll just remove the class colours on same-faction plates again. like i say, i don't use this particular feature all that much.

I'd use friendly nameplate+ enemy nameplate as a healer in bg but even with your glows it would be a mess to me if friendly nameplates were class colored.

yeah I don't think its clear enough. As a healer on pvp I enable friendly nameplates cause it's easier to select them to heal and I like to be able to quickly and easily distinguish between friendly and hostile units.
This is why I prefer to have solid blue color like I have now on friendly units and its also one of the changes I make on your ui is to revert the shaman class color to pink to avoid confusion between enemy shamans and friendly units
