PSA: Addons can get you banned.

...and even if they wanted to make AFK Neutral AH sniping against the rules did they really have to do it in a way that also make almost every addon against the rules and thus subject to GM whims?

It is incredibly frustrating when some people assume that anyone complaining about this is a butthurt Neutral AH sniper. I couldn't care less about the Neutral AH, they can delete it and its silly goblins for all I care. Good riddance. I care only about the API being safe to use for things that would be ok if done 100% manually. THAT'S IT!

And Bit is the maker of the best vanilla AH addon. Attacking him is silly. With rules as unclear in enforcement as this, he could easily get people permabanned by mistake given that, and this is true, there is no good way to buy items from a list in vanilla without using the scan-match-buy method.

The only real difference between the AUX buying method and the neutral AH snipers is that AUX requires an exact match rather than a price at or below a threshold. If anyone except the banned person has a 100% legit reason to be upset about this ban and its implications it is Bit.

You're telling me that making ~50g/day by buying items off the AH below vendor price and then DEing or right out selling to a vendor is actually illegal on Nost now?
I don't play here anymore. I couldn't care less. But that's how I paid for my mount, and honestly, whether my addon scans all items and then alerts me if it finds one that matches <criteria> so I can buy it quickly through a single action (like a hotkey) or it does so automatically has pretty much no bearing on the outcome.

Might as well forbid macros from using CastSpellByName() because it will automate your rotation with a single button.

Banned because of an addOn.
Next step will be: "Banned because of using macros" - GM's answer: "You cannot perform 2 actions with one single keypress!".

If the API is available to creators, then they should use the most out of it.

Things took a bit of a turn a few days ago when Pottu posted this in the thread for the addon Snipe that does pretty much exactly what this player was supposedly banned for.

this addon is not against our rules for now and using it is allowed.

The GM team.

No clarification was given even though it was asked for.Link

We now have an Admin and a GM taking polar opposite positions on the matter...

So is LazyPig okay, or no? Is there an official ruling on it? I deactivated it because this conversation kinda scared me, and people told me I shouldn't use it.

It is clearly against the rules to have certain functions of it activated while afk. On the other hand it is equally clear that they will selectively enforce the rules and will not do it for lazypig so it is, almost certainly, safe to use.
