Banned Addons?

Are there any addons that are compatible for this version of WoW but are banned (or intentionally broken)? I know, over time, Blizzard had banned certain addons and I was wondering if those addons are banned here or if Nost had its own list of banned addons.

Alterac Valley multiqueue addons are banned or at least using them gets you banned.

It makes me very sad to say, that YES you can get banned for using an addon, and it is not predictable whether you will or not. Case in point is the banning of players for an API call that AV multiqueue addons Lazypig and Stinkyqueue use. Despite being completely blizzlike, some players were banned for using them - originally permanently - and then reduced to 10 days.

The GM in question didn't know that the addon existed or how it worked, and accused the players of creating it, despite the fact that it existed in vanilla. But because they banned the use of an API call that had been there forever and in vanilla, the implication is that ANY addon, whatsoever, might end up getting you banned. You roll the dice using them.

I requested that a GM or Admin explicitly identify what API calls are safe. Of course i got no response.

Edits: I rewrote a lot of this to be a little less over the top and a little less repetitive. I should know better than to post while smashed! :D

besides AV multiqueue workaround there is basicly no way you can get into trouble with using addons

But we only learned of that after the fact. Everything is safe until it isn't anymore....

well go through the API listing yourself and think about those other functions.

in case you didn't know, blizzards default UI is built with the same API functions. Meaning if you use a Unitframe AddOn this AddOn will not use other functions or events as blizzards default Unitframes were using.

such an AV premade queue AddOn is a workaround, just think about it. In blizzards default UI you shouldn't be able to do it (in this patch), it's kinda of an exploit.
For what other Situation could you imagine such exploit-like behaviour? not for basic AddOns like Unitframes, castbars or similar..

that's what I meant to say, idc what AddOns you use but I won't change mine because of that and I'm using shit tons of addons.

The point of addons is exactly to do things that blizzard's default UI doesn't do - like track herb/node spawn locations & times, speed up trading on the AH, filter out unwanted chat messages, or track threat you have on mobs, etc. But i agree with your point about not abandoning the use of addons. I use bunches also, and some of them are really important for raiding.

So for the OP: really, you shouldn't be worried about addons since in general very few of them would do anything that would get you banned. If you run across any that seem like they could be interpreted as an exploit, just open a GM ticket (under Stuck), and ask.
