Music Addon

Essentially , let's be honest , most of the music in vanilla wow sucks so I could really use an addon that replaces the music ingame without needing youtube to do it. I'd be so happy if I could replace the music in specific zones and dungeons . I need help finding this addon

First of all, the music doesn't suck, it's awesome. Second, the music does not freaking suck, it's awesome. And for the final i'd like to add that, the god damned music doesn't suck, it's awesome.

The best and easiest way is to just reduce Music Sound to 0 (in Options) and use a music-player, like WMP, Winamp, etc...

WoW API for songs is not the best. For example, you can play a song with PlaySoundFile, but if you face a loading screen (i.e. entering in a raid, dungeon, etc), the song will stop. If you want to reproduce it again, you must play it from 0.

It's not that it's bad music, it's just that it's the same music over and over again. I mean how many times can you hear stv and dustwallow marsh theme before you actually barf?
Vanilla wow is awesome but there ain't any music variety. I want to change it. Ain't there any addon at all?

WoW API is like a list of functions/methods that Blizzard gives to players in order to make addOns.

For example:

• CastSpellByName is a function that allows player to cast a spell by giving the name of it.
• UnitName is a function that returns the name of an unit (i.e. target, player, focus, etc).

Here is the list: http://wowprogramming.com/docs/api, please note that it is updated to WoD, so not all functions are available in Vanilla and some might got removed. That's why a lot of addOns stop working after a release of an expansion.


I looked for most common music player addOns, EpicMusicPlayer and Soundtracker, and both were created when TBC was released.
Try both, maybe it's working for Vanilla expansion.


I also made one for Cataclysm, BlindedByFear. It should work partially for Vanilla (listening your music - dunno if PlayMusic was available in Vanilla, if not, switch to PlaySoundFile), but the share-part should be broken (easy to fix for Vanilla I guess).

Dont like the music? Control + M turns it off, then you Alt + Tab and turn on whatever music you want.

Man , why do I hear this? I wouldn't be here if I wanted this answer would I? I have been doing this for years and it sucks that i have to leave music in the background to replace it.

I know Soundtracker and it sounds awesome. Changing themes every time I battle a lvl 1 pig and killing it with a darth vader theme is pretty neat!

Would someone care to make Soundtrack addon for Vanilla? I have no experience in thos nor the time :/
