As many of you have seen it's alot of addons developed in GitHub these days.

Is there a software avaible that check for updates in a project and if so, downloads the update to a path?

While checking repositories on Github, you can mark them as "Watching". This will send you notifications whenever something happens in that repository, e.g. the author makes a commit, releases a new version, etc...

There is also an extension for most internet browsers that warns you if got any notifications on Github.
