ban appeal

Character name: serpentgrill (because i dont wanna leave a main name and be spammed to death in game)
Ban time: ~october 26th early morning
After turning in the war effort quest third time i connected the dots and realized that was causing the server crashes...
After multiple attempts to explain to people around me to stop doing it i finally quit and went to bed early thinking the issue wont get solved before morning, and now im banned...

I was present the night this took place and was on teamspeak with this player. He was sitting in orgrimmar when the war effort NPC's first spawned. There was no history of server crashes, there was no way of knowing that turning it in was the cause of the server crashes. Immedietly upon realizing that it was crashing the server we attempted to get in touch with a GM but saw none online on the forums. Instead we reported the bug to Daemon via a forum PM from Gilnash, explaining what was happening. Serpentgrill then stayed around the NPC's for a while trying to warn players from turning it in, but a lot of them barely spoke english and we couldn't warn alliance players from doing it. A while later a GM came by and attempted to kill the NPC's to keep people from turning in their quests for the war effort. Serpentgrill again tried to assist in fixing this bug by telling the GM that there were additional NPC's that were causing the crashes. You've always put emphasis that as long as people report the bugs and do not willfully exploit it there is no harm done. Given that Serpentgrill did not knowingly or willfully exploit this bug for any gain and made an effort to report it and prevent others from exploiting it, a permanent ban seems unjustified and we would like for you to reconsider your decision.

So to conclude:
Serpentgrill, nor anyone else knew what was causing the server crashes when he turned in for the war effort. Immedietly upon realizing he stopped and tried to warn others from doing the same

We reported the bug as soon as we noticed it.

We stayed up late to try and provide assistance to the GM team.

I can understand a new player who just started here a few days ago, being ~lvl 20 guildless trying to turn in some linen cloth as they probably aren't aware of timelines, but being in Dreamstate and using NPCs that obviously shouldn't be in the game yet? Seriously?

Even if it wasn't crashing the server, why would you try and take advantage of the easy EXP and REP?

This is more a case of stupidity.

Even if this is "a case of stupidity" no one should lose their account over something as trivial as this, especially if this is their first offense during the servers 7-8 months long life time.

I don't understand this cynical and mocking mindset people got in this part of the forums.
Give yourself a pat on the back for being 'smart' enough to avoid this kind of situation, or go be a dick to someone who bought gold, botted or other stuff of that nature. Let the GMs be the judges.

+1 for this guy.

Greetings dankmemzorr,

Your account was in the list of players that was involved in repeatedly crashing the server. Due to the fact that you only played a minor role in it, your account has now been unbanned. This is your final warning regarding the abuse of in-game bugs; if you're caught abusing bugs again, your next sanction will be a permanent ban. If you're unsure that something may be a bug then please check the bug tracker, create an in-game ticket, or PM me directly on the forums.

Regards,
GM Team.

Thank you for the quick resolution, Tyrael. We regret that this incident had to occur and we find the decision very fair.
