Banned for Mining

Banned for Mining

by Boonkin » Fri Dec 25, 2015 12:06 am

I'm just one of the many players who got banned for "abusing" a bug created by the devs in trying to improve the server. I'll be brief as there are tons of threads like mine. I love Nostalrius and I find it great that staff keeps trying to improve the content, however the way they decided to deal with the issue is absurd and unfair.

Would it be possible to remove the items from the inventory or give a temp ban or even remove a fixed amount of gold from the characters that have abused the bug?

It would be great if Nost staff could show some mercy this time - I don't want to go into detail but myself and others have not abused or exploited the bug but merely mined/harvested once or twice too much before realizing it actually was a bug and it could lead to dangerous consequences, unlike others, who have collected dreamfoil and black lotuses until their bags were bursting. Treating naive abusers just like players who were perfectly aware of what they were doing is unfair.
If I could be unbanned by removing all of the ore in my inventory, hell, even all my gold I really don't care, that would be great.

and by the way, by rereading the ToU one thing seems irrefutable to me:

V. Permanent ban
The most serious sanction. Permanent bans are rare but definitive. This sanction is applied in case of multiple violations of the rules, or after multiple account interruptions, as well as any of the following:

Scamming.
COD Scamming;
Hacking;
Using any means of botting (e.g. a program);
Abuse of major in-game bugs;
Possession of any item(s) obtained with illegal methods;
Any client modification (libraries, executables, MPQ, etc.);
Revealing the identity of a Nostalrius Begins staff member;
Advertising for other private servers or gold selling websites;
Selling/Buying player names;
Exchanging accounts, gold, items, or any ingame services for another game's features;
Selling/Buying accounts, gold, items, or any ingame services with real money;
Publishing software, methods or articles on cheating which can be applied on the server.

------

what I, and others, have done, doesn't constitute one of the offenses listed under the Permanent Ban (Section V) of Nostalrius Terms of Use. If staff could review the punishment they administered in this case it would be great.

Rekt.
The level of whining about bans on the forums is at an all time industrial level.

After a couple instant respawns, it would become blatantly obvious to anybody with half a brain that the resources weren't working as intended.

at Wintersigh and Robotron you guys are right and this is precisely what I' talking about. How/when does one confirm it is a major game bug and realize he is actually exploiting it?
How many ticks can you get from a mine or herb spawn before you decide it's bugged?
I stopped as soon as It became undeniably clear that I could have gone on forever and the node would have still been there (sometime between 7-8 ticks) do you guys count the times you mine or harvest every single time you find a node? gimme a break. I just spam shift right click and thats it (I was getting some failed attempts too)

Either way, not to worry. Merry Christmas

More than 3 for Small Thorium. More than 5 for Rich Thorium. More than 4 for any other ore. More than 1 for any herb. It's not hard.
