Banned for no apparent reason.

Hello, I'm a player on nost pvp, main char called Einsenhower. I'd like to see clarification on this issue. I don't know this player that was banned but I came accross this topic from a guild mate. I'm concerned about my own account now because Nostalrius apparently lazily bans any account without any proof of actual hacking/braking of rules.
I have like 2 weeks of played time from past 1,5 months so I would literally lose all self control if my account was randomly banned and GM's don't look into it anymore than a pile of turd in a toilet bowl.

Was this an automated ban or someone from Nostralrius staff manually banning his account? His account info could have been fished by a random person/fishing program and the d/c's could had been from this hacker/fisher logging on to his account, which could have caused the appearance of hacking.

Was there a report from player that this player was "hacking"? Any proof? I don't have a clue of if he did or did not hack, but you can't randomly start banning peoples accounts, without any effort to see if it was justified or not. That ban probably costed many days or played time.

This is an awesome server on so many levels, but things like this just ruins everything. I'm basically just asking for: [i]Was this an automated ban, manual ban

Well apparently there is no proof or details of hacking taking place besides "gm has approved it, we won't tell you why 'cos that would compromise our detection method", so I guess my account is going to randomly be banned too eventually. I have 100% legit client and 0 intentions of ever-ever trying to hack but if any random error w/e would happen, your precious "detection method" would just make me start over.
This wouldn't be an issue in The burning crusade xpac and onwards, but starting over in vanilla without you doing anything wrong just kills the will to play the game entirely. If you'r going with your current logic, just kill this server and make the burning crusade one already, you are wasting everyone's time or at least risking it.

Even if it's free to play here, pointless and unjustified bans WASTE peoples time, especially if you get banned at lvl 50-59, you'r so close to cap. Also why would this plauer even risk hacking at that point?

Some people might enjoy rerolling everyday and hang around (i.e at the barrens), but that's really the worst and most boring part of the game. Objectively.

Also I'm fairly sure if someone would desperately want to know your detection method of hacking etc., they would find a way, even if Nost would never reveal it. As it stands, no-ones account is safe here.

Staff of Nost, you are not perfect, nor is your detection method. It might be REALLY good, but it's guaranteed to be imperfect. Take a new look at the issue. Or just ignore it, and stay arrogant and blind on the issue. You have the right to do what you think is right.

Are you really getting angry at the staff over a scenario that you are inventing in your own head about an unjust ban for hacking on your account that you don't use any hacks on? This is a first for me. Let me know how the imaginary appeal goes.

The automated system is fucking over innocent people. I think that's worthy of concern. They assert that I have been hacking -- a patently false claim. Though, they apparently think they have all the "evidence" they need to permanently ban me.

I'm not sure whether to blame this on admin incompetence or just general apathy. Regardless, I'll be moving on to greener pastures. There's no dialogue to be had here, only uncaring silence. A result of GMs/admins being unpaid, perhaps? No incentive to actually give a damn?

Either way, there's nothing more to be said. GG, Nostalrius.
