You can see the server status on the page website, under 'Sever Status'

Just look for whatever realm you play on and if that realm dropped, it'll say 'Offline'

Don't panic if it says the server is online and you still can't log in immediately. After a drop, that isn't uncommon. Give it 10 minutes and try again.
