I see your point, but it's only partially true. I don't want the gold sellers here either, but if the choice that nostalrius presents me with is compete against the gold sellers or spend a few bucks... well you know what decision I made there. For the communities sake, hopefully this massive illegal gold banning event has a lasting effect.

The more people like you, the more profitable it is for gold sellers and the worse the server gets.

Glad you got banned. 8-)

So consider the fact that you while you are moaning about how unfair the world is that you put so much time into this character just to have it banned, all that gold you bought likely came from someone else losing everything they had put into their own character. And for them, they did nothing wrong. You actively and knowingly broke the ToU.

You are not the victim here; you are the criminal.

While there might be a tiny number of cases where people actually got "hacked" (i.e. keyloggers or something similar), most of these so-called hacks are just caused by plain stupditiy or carelessness. If you're using a password and username you're not using anywhere else (especially not on other private servers), it is extremely unlikely in my opinion that your account gets compromised.

People always blame someone else, when they don't want to admit it's their own fault.

Eurogamer wrote an interesting article about the temptation to buy gold last year. It's in regards to someone playing retail, but it sounds like exactly the mindset you had Earth:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015- ... arket-gold

I also find it difficult to completely exonerate people who scam/hack/use keyloggers/ etc., even if they are taking advantage of people with poor security measures. Should the victims do as much as possible to protect themselves? Absolutely. Should we remove blame from the people stealing their accounts just because it was easier than it should be? No.

Just because they were stupid doesn't suddenly make them not innocent victims. It's certainly not their fault some pieces of shit got ahold of their account through hacking other server databases and got their info and stole the account.

Hey a little offtopic, but didn't I camped your ass with a lvl 60 mage in hinterlands near the coast while you were getting bottles for that shitty quest like a week ago? just wanted to let you know that I'm sorry I did that, you killed my lowie priest just 10 min before that and I hunted your ass with my 60 because of that. Sometimes you forget that there is people at the other side of the screen too, I hope you keep playing after this, rather sad you got banned because of your stupidity, but honestly you can just start over, leveling the second time is easier and you mentioned that you were only lvl 50, probably not a big deal to start from 0, gl mate.

You broke the clearly stated rules and got banned. It's pretty black and white.

You are part of the reason there's a "hackwave/banwave" going on right now. If there weren't idiots like you buying gold there wouldn't be such a demand for gold, and there'd very likely be less hacked accounts right now. Stay banned shitter.

^ I would say no offense, but I guess I do mean this offensively. You paid for gold which created a demand, which led to a higher surge in gold farming from whoever you bought gold from, which led to the competitors farming more, which led to well, where we are now.

Just take a step over to complaints, general discussion, feedback, or various other forums and subforums. You'll see them, posts from players complaining about limited stock items being bought out, auction house prices being dumped out, not the compromising but the after effects of compromised accounts, nodes being farmed into extinction, etc., The game is being ruined, at an alarming rate.

You directly? Very slightly. But people buying gold in general? It's detrimental to the game economy and every single player is affected by it on a very consistent basis.
