Account Banned

My account with the character Zakotar (Nostalrius PvP) has recently been banned. I also seem to be unable to log on to the Nostalrius webpage to read the reason behind this decision, as adviced by the guidance post.

Last time I played the game was on sunday evening (March 13th), doing the Shaman class-quest "Spirit Totem" in the Western Plaguelands. I have been preoccupied with real life until today (March 17th) and first attempted to log in at around 21:45 (GMT+1).

I sincerely hope you can clarify what has happened and allow me to return to the game.

Did you type in world chat by any chance? I've never played Shaman but I'm assuming Spirit totem is one of the first you get. Anyway, there is an anti-spam filter on the server for anyone under the level...15 I believe that will automatically ban you if you type into world chat...If you didn't do this then I've not got a clue.

The quest is titled "Spirit Totem" and is a level 50 (req.) quest that eventually brings you to Sunken Temple. I reached 60 on my character the day in advance and decided to catch up on my class quest on sunday. I also very rarely use world chat for anything else than finding groups for certain instances. So, I doubt that is the reason.

I reached 60 on my character the day in advance and decided to catch up on my class quest on sunday. I also very rarely use world chat for anything else than finding groups for certain instances. I believe there was a big ban wave yesterday, banning gold farmers etc. might have been in that wave.

Your account was banned for gold trafficking. If you'd like to appeal this ban, please provide information in this thread about what transactions you may have done recently that might have triggered the ban.

If you did in fact buy gold, it saves us all time if you mention that instead.

First of all, thanks for providing a reply and for clarifying why my account has been banned. I would like to appeal your decision as I have never engaged in any gold trafficking activities.

The most recent in-game trade I did has to be at least more than two weeks (perhaps three weeks) ago when my real life friend, Javinda, gave me some basic enchants. He also sent me Beaststalker Gloves and Cord of the Elements as gifts through the mail system. Appart from that, the only activity that has involved transaction of gold has been related to general auction house merchanting (listing of items and purchase of ordinary materials such as an Azerothian Diamond) and vendoring greys/repairing gear. If I recall correctly, I had about 200g last time I was online (13.03). Most of this gold has been earned through completing quests on my road from level 1 to 60.

Other than this, I can provide you with some information about my most recent endeavors in the game, which can hopefully shed some additional light on the case and provide further evidence of my innocence.

The last time I played the game, I ventured to the Western Plaguelands to complete one of the shaman quests that have remained in my quest log for quite some time. "Spirit Totem" (req. level 50) requires you to kill hordes of bears and spiders to collect Thick Black Claws and Bloodshot Spider Eyes respectively. Due to the incredibly low drop rate on these items, I spent approximately 1.5h-2h gathering them. After collecting them all, I went back to the quest giver and handed in the quest. I then returned to Orgrimmar for a short while before logging off. I can also add that I achieved level 60 just one day in advance (night from 12.03-13.03, GMT+1), while completing most of the quests in Eastern Plaguelands. I also recall doing at least one, perhaps two, Warsong Gulch battles on sunday afternoon/evening (13.03).

I've read in other forum posts that a recent hack wave has compromised accounts on Nostalrius. I sincerely hope that my account is not part of this pack. If there has been any login attempts between 13.03 and the opening of this thread late 17.03, it has not been by me. I have only logged on to the game through one IP-address since my account was created, so if my account is compromised and there is a way to trace IP-address of logins, this should be reflected. I've also run extensive anti-virus scans to protect my computer from malware. So this shouldn't be an issue.

I hope that the detailed descriptions provided here are sufficient evidence to have you revisit the choice of banning my account.
