Why didn't I get banned for mining in Silithus?

Why didn't I get banned for mining in Silithus?

by Bluefear » Thu Sep 17, 2015 5:07 am

I have probably earned 1000g or so from farming thorium in Silithus. I even wrote a guide on how I do it in General Discussion. What did I do differently that caused me to stay un-banned while others got banned? I would like to continue staying un-banned while also farming thorium on an ~*efficient*~ level

***UPDATE***

The devs have either increased the spawn timers on the nodes, or made the locations of the respawn random.

I just spent about an hour circling Hive'Ashi, and found the node in the SE cave at 45.5, 29.4 about 10 minutes in. I mined it and started a stopwatch. For the next 45 minutes, I kept circling Hive'Ashi, finding 0 nodes. After 45 minutes passed, I returned to the node I mined, but it did not appear. Either the node respawned in a different location (which would be a change) or the timer on the respawn has increased.

Since this is the only thing that has changed, I must have been unknowingly "abusing" this bug like the 200+ other rogues farming in Silithus and keeping track of the timers. Idk why only 5 people got banned.

Because Nostalraius GMs have some serious problems with favoritism and wanting to set an example. These bans really don't say anything other than how careless they are for their players.

The GMs got limited resources, so some people may or may not have slipped through the cracks. That doesn't mean the ones who got caught shouldn't be punished.

"favoritism"? Why exactly would they favour you below other people who haven't banned? Unless you have been banned before and therefore got less trust from GMs, no one is targetting you. Stop feeling victimized and own up to your mistake.

His mistake?

You realise that all he did was mining, right?

No different to when you run out and collect a herb and come back 45 mins later to collect it again. In fact it's exactly the same, only he and others got banned for doing it, because apparently he did it to "an industrial level".
Since when is grinding a bannable offense?

Here's a list of activities that result in the same punishment as mining too efficiently: botting, speedhacking, scamming, goldselling/buying, characterselling/buying.
If that sits well with you, fine. It doesn't sit well with me or anyone else I've talked to.

According to Pottu, making a post about Silithus miners in a thread about unfair bans is spam.

If you want your post to be considered on-topic, remember you're required to agree with the staff!

It's honestly scary to see how quickly bullshit can spread like wildfire. Please atleast get a minimal insight into the topic before you start shit flinging. No one got banned for the fact that they farmed anything on an "industrial level" EVER, unless it involved an exploit, like this situation did.

The mobs are supposed to aggro once you start mining the veins, even if they are shown as "Passive" I can sympathize with the fact that someone who didn't play back in vanilla wouldn't know this, but I got second hand information from OP who apparently mined there enough in order to make a guide on it (so I think it's safe to say he knows what's up). He says the mobs are shown as aggressive but doesn't aggro at all, so that should make no room for misunderstanding.

Red Elite mobs doesn't aggro me while I freely mine this scarce resource? Seems fine by me!

"Since when is grinding a bannable offense?"
Honestly dude, fuck outta here. I know the staff have made mistakes in the past, but if you blindly believe this is the reason for the ban, then you are deluded

You have no idea what you're talking about do you?

1. All mobs that are "red-flagged" did aggro. The ones that didn't were Hive'Ashi Worker and if you had any f**king clue as to what you are talking about then you would know that not a single on of the veins that you could mine were even close to any of these mobs.

2. Some of these workers are "yellow-flagged" while some of them are red. The obvious first thing that comes to mind is that they are all supposed to be yellow but because of some bug their name just displays as red sometimes, as many other mobs I've seen during leveling.

3. Don't come here and spout shit about why we were banned because you obviously have no clue at all.

Funny how defensive you get. The link you provided literally got this comment "These mobs only attack if you attack them first, if you're fighting another Hive'Ashi mob or if you're mining near them." Don't try to bullshit me and say that you didn't have to fight any other mobs down there in order to get to the veins. And the fact that someone mentions that they aggro when you mine obviously indicates that they ARE near the veins.

The fact that you gotta lie in order to prove your point doesn't really breed sympathy for your situation.

If you had a brain, you would have understood from my reply that there were not any workers close to the veins that people were camping in northern Silithus. You also would understand that if you are a rogue, you have a ability called Stealth, which allows you to bypass the mobs and mine the veins without getting aggro. Even if you did get aggro you could CC them with CS/KS/Blind/Gouge then vanish once you finished mining the vein. But I guess you are clueless about that aswell.

Mate who are you trying to fool? I have tried mining in a hive, I'm not a rogue but I know how densely packed they are. Sure you can probably get a few of the veins without aggroing, but the vast majority of hive veins got atleast 1 mob nearby.
If you truly was a saint then you wouldn't have to be so passive aggressive in your replies since you know you're in the right.

Enjoy your ban, even if you was innocent then I still would have no empathy for you considering how much of an ass you're proving to be.
