question about the many banned accounts

Re: question about the many banned accounts

There are some ppl who stopped after 5 minutes and others that continued until their bags were full i think there should be a different consequence and not just permanent ban for everyone. I didnt write a ticket because i knew some other ppl who already reported it so noone told me to delete them or not trading them to my bankalt. Also nostalrius gms had the choice of shutting the server down and do a rollback for like 30 minutes instead of baninng everyone.

In psychology, this is called a cognitive distortion. People tell themselves in their minds that things are okay simply because they "aren't hurting anyone" or "not damaging the economy that much" or "everyone else is doing it, why not me?" Then you have the good old distant elephants. Consequences seem too far off in the future to matter about what you do now in the present. Guess what? The future comes faster than you think.

It doesn't matter to which degree you exploited the major bug, the Terms of Use is clear on the punishment: permanent ban.
The level of whining about bans on the forums is at an all time industrial level.

To answer your question, they are simply applying the rules you are supposed to have read & agreed on.

You already get a 2nd chance since you're allowed to create a new account and keep playing here.

But reading the TOU is hard!

As I said before, some people had no chance to right their wrongs. Everyone was treated the same way, not all the cases were the same. My point is, everyone should get punishment for violating the terms of agreement, everyone knew they were wrong, but the punishment that was given is irreversible and too hard. I din't get a second chance to make it right.

For many this was one mistake. How many would understand that what they did could ruin the WoW economy? How many would even know what the consequences would be? Not many. Most people live in the moment and only think: "Nice many ores or herbs I can farm." Only later they realize the consequences.

Many people shall be very, very grateful and accept a temporary suspended account. I think many won't ever abuse bugs again. Too bad some will, and if they do, they should be punished very hard. But why treat those people the same as others who won't ever abuse bugs again.

Regards,

Huyana

Everyone had a chance to right the wrong. As soon as you noticed that resource nodes were infinite you had the opportunity to stop, open a ticket, and delete any mats gained. What exactly kept people from doing that?

The Terms also state that:
A last warning is given before a permanent ban.
I'm sure not everyone got a last warning.

Vorfidus, thanks for trying to label my example, but I don't think I suffer from a cognitive distortion. As do I think my example is an example of cognitive distortion. I would call it naive.

Eligius, I think the Nostalrius staff cares a lot about the players. They put much effort in making the game fun for everyone. Blizzard cared a little too much and when people thought the game was too hard, they made it easier. In the end the game became too easy to play.

Glenzig, that is not getting a second chance. (Woops spelled your name wrong earlier)
Everybody makes mistakes. Nobody is perfect, even if you want to be. People learn from their mistakes easily, but sometimes you will need help to learn from them. On the bright side, you should forgive the people who made mistakes and let them make it right.

As long as they are willing to prove to you, they know what they did was wrong, they assure you it will never happen again, and they demonstrate it then yes. Everybody deserves a chance to prove themselves but mess up the second chance and you're done forever no 3rd chances.

We are clients and with more clients they get more donations so in a way yes we are costumers.

how the fuck we should ok with the 4 terms that GM want we have after we got banned ...

we get ban but we must delete the resource gather this is stupid let us have a chance to show some honor
and be honest like Every single ppl that only gather 1 or 2 stack or less showing to you ...

WE ARE NOT major Exploiter this is stupid we don't deserve a Perma Ban ... 1mounth maybe or something like that
just because you can showing weakness to Real exploiters/bug abuse ...
