Yes, you made a very good point. Your arguments are flawless.

Lol, who cares. I've already won, since I can actually log onto my account.
The level of whining about bans on the forums is at an all time industrial level.

Vorfidus wrote:The entire forum was abuzz at first, now it's just the ones that are banned making a big deal. For some reason, I doubt it was just you mining anymore. At first, I thought the devs made a mistake. Now I just think you're trying to get the community to rally to get you unbanned. If you all were the only ones banned out of hundreds of people who farmed, you clearly did something wrong.

This is incorrect. There are many, many characters still running around who did the same amount of industrial mining as the next guy. This is one of the many reasons that this ban wave is invalid.

It is clear that this is some type of person vendetta for you. Leave this thread and go seek artificial satisfaction somewhere else.

Nah. I'm just trolling you guys now tbh. I'm not about to sit behind a computer and argue with three of you as to why you got banned. The devs know why, and we can only pray for a smite soon from Viper or Daemon telling us the truth.

The five banned did nothing different from many other others. There are characters running around right now who have also mined on an industrial level. This inconsistency from the Nostalrius staff is a major reason why their banning protocols need to be called out. They have no regard for common sense.

There is a human tendancy, essentially a self-preservation mechanism, to create a world view and defend that world view - to the point of self delusion. We all want to feel safe.

If you consider the possibility that the GMs might have banned people who didn't do anything wrong, it challenges the safety of your world view. The ground you stand on is no longer stable, and may shift from underneath you. You would have to walk around in fear that every step could lead you to a great loss.

So... most people will take the path of refusing to allow that possibility into their thought process. It's far more comfortable to assume that these banned people were in the wrong, the GMs were in the right, and that means that they can stay in a safe and comfortable zone with solid ground that doesn't shift. People will defend this safe view even in light of obvious evidence to the contrary. Even if the evidence is right in front of their face.

So if you wonder why some people come in so vehemently pronouncing these folks guilty without any direct experience in the matter, that's why. They are protecting their own sense of stability. To suggest these miners were banned for something that was not actually a bug means that anyone, at any time could be banned and lose months of effort - for no good reason at all, due to a capricious decision by some GM somewhere.

I'm here to tell you that all of the signs and evidence, both anecdotally told by the people who were banned, and also by those miners who were not banned and mined before and after the 'fix', support a single conclusion. There is still nothing that can be held up as a bug that was fixed; only an interpretation of "how the game is meant to be played."

As a result, no one is safe, at any time. If you were a miner there, and didn't get banned, you just lucked out somehow. If you are a herbalist, the same could happen to you in the future over herb spawns. Raiders over some boss mechanic. No matter what it is you do, you could trip over something that gets you banned without realizing it, even if it seems perfectly normal at the time.

And the reason I care so much about this is: I REALLY love this server, and want it to survive. However, this is exactly the kind of thing that will kill it. If people don't feel safe or feel like they are trying to play in an environment where their work could go *poof* at any point in time, they will just leave. I, myself have three lvel 60s and about 65 days played. And yet, even with that investment, I'm wondering whether to move on based on the history, and the pattern that is being repeated here.

The server is at risk and it is very important that the players of Nostalrius know what's happening right now. The risk to the server is oddly enough the creators of the server!

I've mined way too much and i have a feeling so have many many people, not to immediately recognize when something is going on with mining that isn't the norm. When you see that happen you stop mining and go somewhere else
