Can you guys ban these people and help guys, who got hacked?

Maybe invent a payment-method, where someone can pay $$ for restoring his account, then there is no reason like "we are working". Yes you are, and you are doing a wonderful job on Nostalrius, but what's wrong with gaining some extra money for solving account issues? :-)

Regards.

Nost team has said it numerous times: they dont want to make any payment services regarding the server to avoid legal disputes with blizzard. Its incredibly easy for blizzard to shut the servers if they find out someone is "profiting" of their property. In my opinion something needs to be done with both the hacking spree and the rules regarding account compromising and item restoration since as of now the server is on a crash course to total chaos.

I am glad we agree.
Obviously, I am quite shaken by these events. Having lost few and almost lost another (he managed to log on and change his password before the hacker got away with anything) long time guildmembers is really scary. It has made all of us fear for our account security and I know most of us changed our passwords, because, that is exactly the only thing we can do. It feels insufficient. I mean, it would be sufficient if there was some form of recovery, I guess, but there isn't. It's simply not acceptable in an MMO to have veteran characters, like Forceberg, evaporate like that. I'm sure he had well over 3000 hours played on that character alone.

same here.
I'm told my account was permanently banned (something by official rule standards that is RARE) because it was comprimised. The said the hacker obtained my info from somewhere.

Ok but if someone hacked my account, how does that prove it was my fault, shouldn't I be able to change my password and hope this doesn't happen again?

I got no appeal, my thread was closed, and basically that was the end of it. I am a Guild master and I post here fairly often in the paladin forums, surly I'm not some kiddo who doesn't care about this server, shouldn't I be allowed to get an appeal?!!!

We do not restore items lost due to account compromise. And the reason for that is that GMs and staff actually have real jobs and can't spend all day doing this for hundreds of players.

Hence, account security is in fact your own responsibility

And that's fair enough. What bothers me is the "hundreds of players" part. I know it used to be hundreds, but now that it's becoming thousands, it's time to do something about it.
You don't have time to do this, all day, for us. That's perfectly understandable, but allow those of us who value our accounts to donate money to a 3rd party developer who can create some additional form of account security, like an authenticator, IP lock or email/textmessage verification.
Even Feenix had IP lock, I'm told.

When people post about being hacked they really should start listing every addon they have including revision date and file size and location downloaded if possible.

Yeah that's an idea, since the Nostarlius staff doesn't really care we have to investigate this ourselves.

The .lock command comes with Mangos so Nost probably has it as well, all they need to do is enable it.

In other news, OKOGAMES continues spamming all chat channels with gold selling ads, and based on their own information, they already sold 1500 gold of their 12000 gold stock since last night.

These guys must own dozens (if not hundreds) of compromised accounts.

they seem to be advertising with higher level characters (well above level 5) which usually is a sign for hacked accounts
