Can we talk about "fake" bans?

Can we talk about "fake" bans?

by Goonzie » Mon Aug 17, 2015 12:41 pm

I've been seeing an incredible amounts of post of people having the same problem as my friend is having and I want to talk about it instead of ignoring it.

It was confirmed that my friend's account was never banned yet we've tried EVERYTHING in the FAQ and NOTHING works. Can we acknowledge that there actually something going on here and have the people in charge work on figuring what's wrong instead of telling people to do the stuff in the FAQ? IT IS NOT WORKING.

My friend STILL can't get on, going on one week now. This is frustrating. Give us answers. Thanks.

Can you ask your friend to tell me if there is no ban when logging into https://en.nostalrius.org ? I'll work with you.

Can your ask your friend to make a topic himself?

Asking for ban reasons on behalf of others (yes, I know he is not "cheat-banned") is still troublesome, since communication will require 3rd party, and vital information may get lost.

She can log on the website just fine.

I could ask her to make a post herself but the fact of the matter is I've been seeing a ton of posts about the same exact thing. A LOT of people are having the same problem. It wouldn't change anything if she posted personally.

Thanks.

Is there anything that says "you have been banned"? If not, this isn't a ban at all.
What's the error(s) she gets when she tries to login through the WoW client?

Yes. She gets unable to connect for a while and then it switches to "this account has been closed" but she can log on the website just fine and it was confirmed her account wasn't actually banned.

It even happened to, I got the "your account has been closed" for absolutely no reason and after a while it let me on (I didn't enter wrong infos).

It's absolutely clear just by looking at all the post that there is a huge problem that is not being acknowledged. It needs to be investigated. Thanks.

Unable to connect means either the account name or password is incorrect. Too many attempts leads to a temporary ban on the IP -- lasting at least 15 minutes.

Is the account name or password over 16 characters long? The WoW client has a maximum length of 16 characters in each field.

You or someone else has tried to login too many times on your IP. It's the only way you would get a temporary ban without the ban showing up on https://en.nostalrius.org

It's not a huge problem until all available options are exhausted on her end.
