Hey there, it appears as though my account has been suspended with the reason "Hacker", I do not consent to such an accusation as I have not hacked, although I know what might have caused Warden to react in such a way.

I had a custom patch in my World of Warcraft folder at the time of the ban which alters a bunch of maps in the game, I did not realize this until it was too late and as it turns out Warden caught this as hacking. I would hereby like to appeal my case and I am hoping that the ban can be revoked based on the information I have provided here.

If there are any questions I will gladly answer them.

My characters name is Windhooves if I am not mistaken, I just recently started playing on this realm with a new alias so the character name might not be correct, I do on the other hand have the account name which can be given if needed, although in a private message for security reasons.

I don't consider custom patches a hack. A hack is a third party software which alters the client, i.e speed hack, wall climb etc.

I don't see how I need to make up my mind? I was saying I don't consent to being accused of hacking because I have used no such software which alters the client.

You don't consider using custom game files which alter map files to be "altering the client?"

To the OPs point, Cartographer addon alters your map, nobody considers that a hack. I think for most casual users, what constitutes as a hack is not always clear.

You're misunderstanding him. He had custom game files in his WoW folder that WERE NOT add-ons. Custom MPQs files, ADT files, or whatever. Cartographer does not edit game files, just shows more information for you to see. He actually edited things to make the world different.

Map add-ons are not at all considered hacks. But that's not what he's saying. He didn't say he had addons, he said he had a "custom patch".
I'm not sure if it's just simantics, or if there is an actual difference between the two terms.
I know I don't deserve any clarification, but I am very curious.

I meant that I had custom adts, though I didn't create the patch, I had it from another 1.12.1 project. Although as said I did not realize the patch was still in there when I logged in, I would also like to point out that my character was level two so it's not a big deal, I just want the accout back because I want to keep the character name.. Either way I had no intention of modifying the client in such a way that I would be regarded as a hacker.

I believe there was a miscommunication on my behalf, what I meant was that I don't consider altering the client through mpq files is considered hacking, but using third-party software would be, which is not the case.

I hope this clears it up for everyone involved in this discussion.

In any case, it won't matter. Whether there was intent or not, they don't unban accounts normally. There have been cases of guys accidentally selecting the wrong process with cheat engine and getting banned.

That makes so much more sense. But, yeah, they most likely keep the ban in place. At the very least you only just made the account. Not much of a bright side, but I guess it's better than nothing.
