Banned for mining (do not ignore)

Greetings,

This is Nonsense, original poster of the, “Banned for mining” threads. After more discussion by the players, it seems that the crux of the Silithus mining bans has surfaced. The miners who were banned were banned because of their assumed intent of exploiting deterministic node spawns. To be more clear - these bans come with the assumption that the banned players knew that the nodes were not supposed to spawn deterministic-ally. The Nostalrius team is facing a backlash for these bans due to several reasons - A) the Nostalrius team uses the yardstick of time invested and the amount of mining (industrial amounts) to prove intent of exploitation. B) the Nostalrius team has only banned some of the players who mined at industrial levels, a nod to the notion that this team of developers is incapable of properly executing the decisions it makes. C) over half a year has passed since any type of attention towards these nodes was pointed out, a major nod to the notion that these nodes were working as intended. D) the speculation of the Nostalrius team that these miners; along with all players on the server, completely realize and commit to memory the knowledge of how nodes are supposed to work. E) the Nostalrius team has eternally purged accounts instead of a enacting a more suitable punishment, such as warnings or even suspensions attached with notifications that these nodes were indeed bugged. F) the seemingly indolent manner in which the Nostalrius team has handled this entire farce.

Some of these points need to be studied in further detail. Let’s take a closer look -

A - The amount of time invested in Silithus mining is irrelevant and does not prove intent of exploitation. The industrial miners of Silithus have been punished for putting their noses to the grindstone and earning their treasures. Grinding out money and materials is integral to progression in vanilla WoW. If a player knew that these nodes were bugged and operating in an illegal manner then why would that player farm extensively? If a player knew that these nodes were bugged, wouldn't that player purposely limit him/herself to a below-the-radar amount of mining?
B - The Nostalrius team has only banned some of the industrial level miners. There are many, many accounts with characters that have a history of industrial mining that have not been banned. It is unclear as to why these accounts have not been banned like the rest. Does Nostalrius pick favorites? Has this ban wave came about due to personal reasons?
C - A solid six months has passed since the server came out. It is reasonable to assume that these nodes have been improperly coded since server release. How is it possible that an entire half a year has passed with Nostalrius developers not noticing a, “major bug” in such a high traffic farming zone? How was this affair first brought to the attention of the Nostalrius staff?
D - Nostalrius is home to first time WoW players and veteran WoW players. It is not reasonable for the Nostalrius team to expect all of its players to know when a bug is found. Did we join Nostalrius to play WoW or read fine print? At the end of the day, these nodes are bugged due to a coding error of the Nostalrius developers.

I will conclude by integrating point E, perhaps the most simple, yet impactful idea of this post. This author, along with many of the other players on the server, see a simple solution to this entire fiasco - fix the coding and move on. Nostalrius has nothing to gain by banning these miners. Every single permanent ban should be heavily weighed upon before actually being implemented. A banned account can no longer be enjoyed ever again. The /played time and effort put into these accounts has been squandered in one sweeping motion. This motion by the Nostalrius staff needs to be reconsidered for the Nostalrius community has taken notice of this Silithus mining matter and the community is not pleased. This affair will turn out to be a very important lesson in the protocols that the Nostalrius team takes when issuing future punishment. We are only six months in, that six months can either be a small portion of the Nostalrius life span or a large portion. All eyes are on you, Nostalrius developers. Your next move is critical to the future health of your server. You put in years of time to make this thing happen… don’t squander that time too.

You should elaborate a bit.

People have already elaborated enough, if you still refuse to see why then that's your problem.

Oh look, another post nobody cares about. The entire server won't die because 5 rogues got banned, you're not that important. ^^

There is a problem with the way the staff of this server handles banning people. You will be singing a different tune when you are banned for doing something that you did not know was a bannable offense. It is not acceptable to ban people after the fact over a trivial matter.

If you read my post and think this is about five rogues then you need to re-read the post and think a little bit.

I did. You basically said it wasn't your fault, but the devs, and that if they continue to ban people for no reason then the server and their years of hard work will cease to exist. Five people got banned for it, so what? Deal with it. I don't know if you've noticed, but over the past week or so a lot of inappropriate bans were overturned on the account support forum. They're handling things appropriately, you just did something that wasn't allowed and now you have to pay.
