ban appeal

ban appeal

by hellowhat » Mon Sep 28, 2015 9:23 am

Hello, my character Blademasterx was banned for mining in silithus. I'm posting this in an attempt to appeal my ban so I can play again.

The story so far:
1) Me and the 4 other players banned were farming Silithus Ooze Covered Thorium Veins at "an industrial level", abusing the fact that they respawned every 45minutes in the same location.
2) We, as players, should have known what we were doing was not intended.

I'd like to apologize first of all for "exploiting" the mines, but besides that, I'd like to point out there was no way for me to know as a player playing this game(vanilla wow) for the first time, that I could have possibly known that the veins were not meant to spawn in the exact same spot, when every single website (db.valkyriewow, db.vanillagaming, ) all claim the veins have singular spawns in Silithus. Infact, even the blizzard sponsored wowhead website claims the veins spawn in the same location as the "private server databases" do.

http://db.vanillagaming.org/?object=177388
http://db.valkyrie-wow.org/?object=177388

Besides that fact, why was I, having only farmed the silithus veins for 2-3 days banned? I took a screenshot of my collection(please note, I sold only 11-15 arcane crystals, 0 thorium ore, 0 thorium bars, 0 dense stone, 0 blue sapphires, 0 azerothian diamonds, 0 huge emeralds, 0 large opals and all these materials are still on my bank alts, Clothmasterx and Vinchenzoo, both on the same account that is banned.)
This is the amount of thorium I farmed in its entirety(I did make a few thorium grenades for my own use)

And these are the "gems" I farmed. (NOTE: Sold 11-15 arcane crystals)

All the items I just showed you are still on my account, untouched, unsold. I did not attempt to "destroy" the economy by selling what I farmed, and I would gladly have you delete all the Thorium, Dense Stones, Arcane Crystals, Huge Emeralds, Large Opals, Blue Sapphires, Azerothian Diamonds from my account.

Please unban me.
Thanks for your consideration and time.

Even I don't have a dark enough heart to troll this post

Other private servers have undone perm bans.

Greetings,

We have reviewed your ban appeal and this ban will stay permanent on your account.
You have exploited a bug for this vein, as you said "an industrial level". When you exploit that vein did you not consider it that might be a bug?
Some of our players actually sent ingame tickets to ask about this behavior and we explained them the situation before they abuse any bugs.

Feel free to create a new account and respect the rules.

Regards,

Carson Wells: Call me when you've had enough. I can even let you keep a little of the money.

Llewelyn Moss: If I was cuttin' deals, why wouldn't I go deal with this guy Chigurh?

Carson Wells: No no. No. You don't understand. You can't make a deal with him. Even if you gave him the money he'd still kill you. He's a peculiar man. You could even say that he has principles. Principles that transcend money or drugs or anything like that. He's not like you. He's not even like me.

Llewelyn Moss: He don't talk as much as you, I give him points for that.

I can't stop thinking that a perm ban for this is silly. I'm lucky I didn't went mining there because I would have been completely oblivious that I was doing something forbidden.

According to the ToU, you can get a final warning for "Abuse of in-game bugs", and you get banned for "Abuse of major in-game bugs"
Was this really a major in-game bug? I mean come on

If you look at his bags I think you will find it was a huge abuse of the bug.

The fact it could have a major inpact on the economy would make it pretty major....However.....I do think a perm ban is very harsh - Strip the mats and serve a 2-4 week ban should really be applied in this situation.

You cannot expect players to know what is a bug and what is not on a private server (Unless it slaps you in the face) which after a while the player should have known.

Bleachy, it's not a Major Abuse of a Bug, it's an Abuse of a Major Bug that is the issue here. He did not abuse a major bug. He abused a timer that was set incorrectly, that neither he, or anyone else considered a bug at all.

There is a huge difference.

Abusing a very minor bug, even if it's a lot, is still supposed to be a final warning offence. Not a permaban.

Regardless of the GM decision on the case (which I know will remain final), it is a ridiculous and unfair ban.

How do I know? Because I mined there on my rogue both before and after the bans. I know that the only change is that the respawn time for those Ooze covered thorium veins went from a fixed 45 minutes to a non-deterministic timer somewhat more than 45 minutes.

And other veins, like Ooze covered mithril veins are still on a deterministic 45 minute respawn. Apparently it's not a bug there?
The pizza level in my bloodstream is dangerously low.

This is just stupid getting banned for it without a prior warning. Considering he didnt play in vanilla, i who did, wouldnt consider that shit a bug, just like luck that it spawned and wouldnt have reported that as a bug.

He should as stated above - get everything stripped - maybe like a gold strip aswell and some weeks banned but not permanent ban.

Without a prior warning this sort of things is just way off. You developers and admins cant expect us players to have a 100% knowledge on every single detail of a 10 year old game.
