Ban appeal

Ban appeal

by Paultrouble » Thu Nov 05, 2015 10:31 pm

Hi,

Today i have been banned for "multiboxing" in the elite part of stormgrade in arathie highlands.

I would like to explain my point: the fact i brought my main character to assist my lowbie was because my low lvl character was CONSTANTLY ganked (for more than 10 times) trying to do the elite quests with other low levels in Stormgrade, by this guy, which is famously known for ganking lowbies 10 hours a day
https://forum.nostalrius.org/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=25771 and some of his friends (firestar, senhuengyi)

After beeing ganked for the 10 or 11th time, i asked for my guildmate windearth to come help us, and someone else called for a 60 warlock (isador) to come and help

Even tho they managed to kill Kolosov some times, he still constantly ambushed lowbies even tho he would get killed afterwards...
I then brought my own main, a hunter, because i wanted to protect and my alt with flair and traps, which my warrior guildmate couldnt do..

At this point, i admit, i used my main to speed up the quest which i had been trying to complete for hours, and in that sense, i broke the rule.

I would like to deeply apologize for that, and remind you that i would never have done that if that 60 rogue Kolosov would not have been ganking our group for hours..

I therefore would like to ask for some clemency in that case, and the possibility to at least reduce the, in my opinion, very harsh sanction.

Thanks you for your consideration.

edit: You can ask Isado ,winheart or any lowbie in arathie highlands, they will confirm that advanced, constant and repetitive ganking from Kolosov of low lvl players trying to do the elite quests

Greetings,

You were previously warned on 10/31 about multi-boxing, and you acknowledged it. Today, you were caught multi-boxing again. You were given a last warning, then a permanent ban. This escalation follows the Terms of Use, and as such the sanction on neither account will be lifted.

I acknowloedged last time issue, because I honestly didnt know manually switching windows felt into the Terms of use

But today, still having that in mind, i first asked for stranger's help (isador) , then, guildmate help ( windearth) to prevent that ganking to happen: and i'm not talking about soft world pvping, but raw ganking where that Kolosov guy would literraly camps our corpses for hours..

As i said, he kept killing our alts, then instantly vanished (or got caught) even tho we had some support

At this point and only at this point, i brought my main to make this stop, and as Isador and windearth were gone, i kept my hunter close to my alt for the last 10-15 elite mobs i had been trying to kill for the past 2 hours to get to the boss...

I really thoroughly apologize for that, and i would never had done that in open world if it wasnt to prevent my alt from beeing yet another time killed..

I'm just asking for little consideration of what might have been considered as harassment in a retail server, because again, that Kolosov guy is well known for doing that continuously.

Hoping that you can understand it and softens the sanction to whatever duration you feel would be more appropriate

Thanks for letting me explain my point.

The original reason why multiboxing is prohibited on private servers is:
- gaining an unfair advantage in a PvP situation by being able to control multiple characters at once
- gaining an unfair advantage in a PvE situation by spending less time on killing NPCs/ doing quests
- gaining an unfair advantage by farming on multiple accounts

Neither of this was the case here. Although the terms of use were indeed broken and a warning was issued, I'd still like to remind the administration of the thin line between playing the game in the intended and legit way and multiboxing with an unfair advantage.

And just btw: Constant ganking was a bannable offence on retail as it destroyed other player's enjoyment of the game.

You really should consider a played time based punishment system. There's a huge difference between a new player multiboxing 5 characters to level them up at once and this.

Greetings,

The line was put forth, and was crossed. You failed to follow the Terms of Use on several occasions, and as such the sanctions were escalated. The final warning was given on first offense, and then a permanent ban was issued. The Terms of Use does not discriminate between advantages gained, time played, nor any other category. As with any other case or banned multi-boxer, this offense was confirmed by staff and even here on the forums by the player, thus the sanctions will remain on the accounts involved.
