Really hope you can help. I'm having trouble playing the game, even reliably accessing the site (no trouble accessing any other sites, just this one. Occasional error message below. In my recent search for a vanilla game environment, I actually found Nostalrius after I found and successfully tried the ssetup from "VanillaGaming.org". Theirs seems off to a good start, except:
- Their "Rate" is non-standard and VERY aggressive/aimed at rapid leveling (15x experience?)
- Their game server wasn't very stable - I was disconnected a few times over 5 hours - and what I've read about Nostalrius looks very enticing.
- BOTH installers use the same game client directory name, which really should be customizable but isn't
* I replaced the "realmlist.wtf" file contents, as instructed here, with those for Nostalrius.org (copy & paste):
realmlist login.nostalrius.org

Successfully logging into the web site seems to be roughly a 2 out of 3 or even 1 of 2 success rate. I assume I haven't missed something and that I'm supposed to use the same user ID and password registered on the site as the game login credentials. Unfortunately, I have not been able to log into the game even once yet. The game client error message:
"The information you have entered is not valid. Please check ..."
Things I've Tried & Observations so far:
- Changed password via the web site - same results
- Created and tried a 2nd account - same results:
- only able to connect/browse the web site without error maybe two out of three attempts, and
- attempting to log into the game client had no success at all, received error message "The information you have entered is not valid".
- I've tried two browsers - both are up to date - IE and Firefox
- The only malware protection loaded at the moment is Avira. ONLY the realtime file scan module is installed.
* NOTE:
a) I have NO issues browsing any other sites at this time.
b) I am able to log into both Blizzards World of Warcraft service AND the VanillaGaming.org version of "World of Warcraft Classic" with no issues (as long as I revert the "realmlist.wtf" configuration file with their domain).
Additional Information:
- My Windows 7 PC is located in Ohio, USA behind an Asus NAT firewall on a high bitrate (50 Mb down/5 Mb up) connection.
- I have noticed that the installer of the client downloaded here does not offer an option to change the location to place the game files. This was an available option for the 1.12.1 download from VanillaGaming.org
I really hope you have an idea - this looks to be exactly what I've been missing for a log time
