How long will my ban last?

Hi,

Character name : Udmån, PvP server.

I think I got banned today because I remained inactive in AV for too long.

I thought that being afk in a BG would trigger a warning before i got banned, because as the ToU states :

"For minor infringements. A warning is first given to inform a player about the rules and warn him about future sanctions. Warnings remain in the player's record.

[...]
AFK in BGs;"

Well, I didn't get any warning... Anyway, I guess the ban I am facing is a short account interruption and that I will be able to access it within 24 hours. Can you confirm that please?

In case I am making any mistake, please tell me. :)

Greetings,

You have been permanently banned for anti AFK botting inside battlegrounds.
This ban has been confirmed and is final.

Feel free to create a new account and respect our rules.

Regards,
GM Team

Thanks for your reply.

I did not use a bot to remain in BG while being AFK.

I actually put my mouse in a position which makes the cursor derivate through the screen, no software involved.

Is that considered a bot? I am really confused.

Everything automatic is considered a bot, so yes. Even a little brother hammering "space" at random intervals (i.e. not necessarily mechanical or software may be involved).

Why didn't you just leave the BG if you haven't time to finish it?

I didn't want to leave AV because I was just cooking and eating for a few minutes and I thought getting the 15min debuff + 35min queue would be a little bit too long. Yes, maybe that was pretty lame.

On the bot thing :

The Terms of Use Agreement says :

"B. Bots; including, but not limited to, any code, hardware and/or software that allows the automated control of the Game, or any feature or component thereof."

"botting (e.g. a program);"

How can putting a screw in my mouse optical sensor ever be considered botting? It's neither a program nor does it allow the automated control of WoW. The Terms of Use have a part that mention being AFK in BGs and the appropriate sanctions. Maybe we should just apply it and stop assuming that everyone use a bot?

I would really appreciate if my case could be reviewed, I really love this game and this server and would be really sad if I had to leave it. :)

... basically any method to circumvent the automatic AFK functionality.

Come on, you can't seriously be saying that putting a screw in a mouse is like botting...

It does not allow any automated action.
It does not take information from the client.
It's not even a software.

Quoting "not limited to" and explaining that anything can be seen as a bot is not really fair. Anyone being AFK in a BG is a bot then?

Sure, what I did is lame, sure I'am not proud of it. I am not even used to do that. I will gladly take a warning or even a temp ban because I am totaly guilty of being AFK in AV (even tho technicaly I was eating in front of my screen lol). But I can't let you say that I used a bot.

It kept you from being afk in a bg, so it automated that for you. It does not matter how it did it.

Being inactive for few minutes will not get you kicked out of the realm. Hence your excuse that you were just "cooking and eating for few minutes" rings hollow. As Mimma helpfully pointed out, any automation is grounds for a botting ban.

Feel free to create a new account and this time actually play your character.
