Request for a name thats not in use

I was wondering if it was at all possible to request a name to be freed up like you could do back in wow if it wasnt used in a certain amount of time.

It is not our policy to allow names to be freed up. Once taken, a name is taken forever unless the person whose account it is on deletes that character.

Also, this wasn't possible in Retail until Cataclysm. Before that GM's denied every such requests.

Alright thank you. I did manage back in vanilla to get a name freed up but i understand.
