Account blackmailed followed by ban

by Inkedorc » Tue Mar 08, 2016 6:35 pm

First of all I am writing this on behalf of my brother who is only 12 years old and therefore not confident enough to make this appeal on his own. His toon's name is Suntrip

Earlier today he got very lucky and looted the edgemaster's handguards. Amid all the happiness he simply posted on the world channel that he had gotten his first ever epic drop and linked the gloves. He recieved some private messages, a few congratulations and two people asking how much he was willing to sell them for. One guy offered 500g and another guy 600g so he accepted the 600g offer and awaited the buyer in SW (little did he know that the market price varies around 800g).

As the buyer shows up they open trade and they try to complete the trade but its not completed. Buyer says he has full bags and asks my brother to hold on to a couple of his items. He gives my brother a pair of gauntlets that look the same as the edgemaster's handguards and a stack of conjured water. He then tells my brother to trade back the gauntlets cause he only needs one slot free. That trade is not completed either. Right after that trade the buyer tells my brother to sell him the edgemaster's handguards for 200g or else he will get him banned cause he has "proof" that my brother tried to scam him by switching out the gauntlets. My brother is somewhat chocked by the turnout and refuses to trade with the buyer again. The buyer keeps saying "trade for xxxg or enjoy ban", even going up to the asking price of 600g. Though my brother wants nothing to do with the guy.

The buyer's name is Duerker. My thoughts are that he can do these trade screen shots without taking any risk cause of how bugged the trade system is right now, if u instantly accept it always cancels first time. This guy might have done a ton of gold by buying underpriced items through this blackmailing, please investigate him and this whole ordeal.

My brother's lvl 47 priest is now banned for scamming while in fact he is the victim of the most advanced scam I have ever heard of in WoW let alone on a private server. The consequences for the one not willing to be blackmailed are obviously huge in this case. Please solve this

:D Yes and while i planed all this to screw some random Level 47 Priest, which is obviously played by your 12 year old brother (yeah right :*D) I also made a plan on how to accomplish world domination. Just fyi, the GMs can probably see that i never even possessed nor traded that green item you were trying to scam me with. So you better think of some better story next time to get your revenge on the one who reported you. Enjoy some real life friend.
Best regards

Hopefully GM's will have trade logs and will be able to sort this.

How many players attempted to blackmail your brother - just one or were there multiple? Did he tell you about the whispers I sent him?

The GM team.

This thread is interesting. It will probably take an experienced law enforcement officer to tell which of the two (or three) people involved in this are lying:

a. The OP.
b. The OP's brother (if existent)
c. The reporting player.

Hello sorry for the late response, our family has been away skiing.

My brother says there were two people though he doesnt remember the name of the second one. Also he doesn't recall any messages from any GM or you specifically Pottu.

See, this is the problem. I contacted your "brother", who ignored me and proceeded to attempt to scam a player who reported him. So I have two different players reporting that your "brother" tried trade window scam, which happens pretty regularly, your "brother" ignoring my whisper, and now your fantastical thread saying that your "brother" is a victim of a complicated blackmail conspiracy.

Occam's Razor is saying that you're lying.
