Perma Ban, Probably because of VPN

Perma Ban, Probably because of VPN

by Ozk » Sun Mar 13, 2016 5:44 pm

Hello Nostalrius staff,

While dueling a priest my game crashed, I tried to log back in and was greeted by a message saying my account is closed. I contacted a GM on another account, and <GM> Akasso told me that your anti-cheat system had flagged my account, but could not tell me for what reason.

I asked <GM> Akasso if it could be because of my VPN software. I switch server locations every 12 hours, so I log in from different IP addresses a lot. <GM> Akasso could not answer my question however.

The character name is Aerana, on the PVP server. I hope this can be resolved quickly. This account has never been shared, and I have never cheated in WoW.

Greetings
Ozk

I am in the same guild with the above player, character Aerana. He is the Warlock class leader.

For what is worth, I'd like to testify that he is focused on raiding like the rest of us. As you can see, we raid 3-4 days per week (sometimes even more)

Aerana is not one of the l33t PvP kiddies so there is no need for him to cheat or speedhack b/c he is not focused on doing PvP content.

So, please unban our warlock class leader, we need him for raid progression.

(Posting this from within the raid in BWL as we are doing Nefarian).

Greetings,

This is not due to a VPN. The account was banned by our cheat detection system.

This ban has been placed under review and we will get back to you with a resolution in this thread.

Regards, GM Team.

Well I hate to say it, but when people get flagged for dueling while waiting for the boat in wetlands, you have some serious problems with your anticheat software.

The key part of your initial post is "while dueling a priest", I've noticed that a massive amount of people have the same or similar issue: they get mind controlled (usually in BGs) and their game crashes and they get banned. You can see so many ban appeals saying that in this subforum. So it's obviously some kind of a bug with MC (possibly also the helmet variant) that we're not being warned about, or at least not to my knowledge.

It would be nice if this was officially acknowledged, I'd like to be able to MC people without worrying they'll be banned for no reason every single time.

Only a few days ago some druid got banned by the cheat detection system after being mind-controlled by an enemy priest in WSG. Aerana's case is a repetition of the exact same thing. The druid in question was unbanned, and I remain hopeful the same will be the case with Aerana.

Edit: I am posting two (2) similar cases with that of Aerana below. Both accounts were unbanned:

Thanks for the feedback people, happy to know I'm not the only one who has experienced this problem, and that other people got unbanned.

It was pretty dumb of me to accept a duel at the boat in wetlands...

When can I expect an update? I can imagine the recent hacks I've been reading about have been taking up a lot of your attention...

Still, since the replies in this thread have clearly shown that other people who have had the same thing happen to them have been unbanned, I am hopeful that my ban will be lifted soon.

Can I please have an update? It has been 4 days now and still I didn't receive a reply. I see thread after thread getting replies or getting locked, while mine is just getting buried....

I understand you guys probably have a lot of other stuff to do, but meanwhile I'm missing all the raids my guild is doing. A classleader that's not able to attend progress runs, isn't a good classleader imo...
