Raiding Community and Tank Oppritunity

by zmandude24 » Tue Jan 26, 2016 5:07 pm

I have a MC ready warrior tank on the PvP server and I'm an experienced tank who has main tanked Illidan on Excalibur WoW before I came to the PvP server. The PvP server does not seem to have many good options for an aspiring MT like myself. Just about every guild that has potential to get even into BwL is already established and it would be difficult to get in as an OT. In addition, the PvP server in general is laggy and some thing are virtually impossible to get due to people overfarming it. The PvE server seems to have the better community and more oppritunity for me as a tank, but I'm not sure if it's worth it to level another character to 60 if I have a geared tank on the PvP server. What I'm looking for is to MT in an UPCOMING mid level guild or to OT in an UPCOMING top level guild.

Speaking as one of our MT's from the guild I'm from, I'd reckon you've missed the train on being an MT in an already fully established guild.

Day 1 was where it was at and unless someone needs an MT currently and are using the next best option I'd say rerolling would be a waste of time.

However, Good luck all the same.

AP do remember guilds form and disband, and the possibilty of creating your own guild is still a valid option. Alot of people are still new, and leveling. So if you wish to be MT, i suggest you either find a guild that hasn't started raiding yet, or create your own. I must however agree with Actionpigeon, on the fact that becoming MT for a current raiding guild is as good as impossible.

Just remember, everything is possible, it just takes hard work and dedicated. Best of luck to you!

EDIT: I see you write "alrdy established guild" so we pretty much have the same statement. Lol!

Curious, what do "good options for an aspiring MT like" yourself, look like? Are they actively & successfully raiding but apparently don't already have mainstay tanks? Are they raiding but constantly turning over their tanks? (Warning). Are they struggling to clear content because they don't have numbers and actually need a tank?

As evidenced by the populations on both servers, there are always new players upcoming. And like any MMORPG with a raiding scene, there is always turnover due to burnout, drama, and real-life obligations. The p-server scene is not different in that respect.

If you are good and you are friendly/sociable, you will find a spot. You will not take the spot of a MT/OT in an established guild that's running smoothly. (Why would they dump a player they're having success with for you?). You will either have to join a troubled guild, a guild that's starting to raid, or start your own guild. But that's been true for every expansion of any MMORPG I've ever raided in.

I've purposefully excluded mentioning joining a B-group for a guild as I've found it to be an incredibly negative experience. It gets talent drained by the A-group and is never a focus for leadership to make sure it runs well. I've found much more success by either building up my own raiding team (as a leader or a member) or being poached/merged with another guild.

I think I may have worded it wrong since I know it's impossible to become the MT of a guild already raiding, but what I meant is that I'm looking for a guild with the POTENTIAL to be a mid level guild to MT for, not one that's already established. What I'm looking for is a guild that's not raiding yet, but will raid in the future.

There are many of them, all at varying levels of potential and at varying points of being "ready".

It's incredibly hard to know which will actually succeed, but an experienced MT in the guild increases their chance of success by a large amount. I'd think you'd be a hot commodity to those folks.

As for PvE server vs PvP, because it's a numbers game I think you're more likely to find like-minded folks on the PvP server.
