The most common reason civilizations collapse, countries disintegrate and communities fall apart is that the people living in those places don't bother to think things through and don't even notice that they're cutting their own throat and everyone else's. I noticed this happening on retail almost as soon as I started playing in 2010 and tried to point it out to people (and had some 14-year-old emo forum moderator temporarily ban me for supposedly "trolling"). Since then I've occasionally tried to make people aware that those who most deeply love the game and take it the most seriously are exactly the ones dragging it over the edge of a cliff without noticing that they're doing it, but the reaction has always been me being demonized in a way that smacked of disordered thinking by those doing the demonization. Here, on the PvE server, I decided instead to take action, and started work on creating a new culture that could rejuvenate the game and delay its onrushing death. That effort was thwarted, but it wasn't until earlier today that I had a whisper conversation with the guildmaster of a leading guild on that server, and saw that things are hopelessly lost. That person, in an extremely emotionalistic way, took great pains to have as distorted a view of me as possible for the purpose of feeling justified in demonizing me. In fact they named a rival vanilla server and told me to go play there instead of staying on Nost! So I've completely lost heart and am doing my best just to walk away. R.I.P. World of Warcraft, and may the guilty pay the price for killing it.

Perhaps you need to take the responsibility of becoming a guild master yourself, if you want to do things your own way. If you want to make something different, you have to start it, not turn an already existing guild in your ways and ambitions.

The person that has the leading guild obviously most likely has taken the game most seriously than anyone else, same is the case in the pvp server, and things will not change cause some people are addicted to their e-peen. But you dont have to bother with them, you have to find the people who are there that just want to join a small cozy community and start doing things together.

What is this on-rushing death of the PvE server? The continual growth of the PvE server belies your assessment. It's reasonable to assume the PvE server's growth is following the same trajectory in percentage, as the PvP server did, albeit starting with a smaller population. I bet if they were graphed side by side the growth percentage week over week would be eerily similar.

There is no reason to believe the populaton will not continue to grow and be active up to the crescendo of the end of vanilla and then, if all goes as planned, shall merrily segue into TBC.

Civilizations collapse for a myriad of reasons. You'd be hard pressed to find those that collapsed for failing to heed the vision of a self proclaimed prophet.

P.S. I didn't demonize you at all, to anyone or yourself and wasn't in the least bit emotional. I found your idea that there should be funded "additions" to the game amusing and missing the point of the server entirely. I suggested to you if you want a funserver, there are others out there for you. My interaction with you, from my perspective, was to help someone whom apparently wasn't familiar with their surroundings and needed help. I didn't have any value judgements at the time of who you were, or what the heck your deal was. You just seemed lost to me.
