Moonkin and Elemental shamans will definitely be a big no.

For Enhancement if a guild doesn't have one, you might be able to get in brining talented totem buffs for their melee.

Shadow Priests will be more acceptable as of 1.7 when they increase debuff slots, since then you'll passively boost Warlock damage.

This thing again? If you want to hurt your chances of getting into a good guild, go ahead and try bad specs but that's only for pve. PvP is not that constricted.

Ehh... much as I want to give love to the weird shit...

<Voltaic> will definitely have one, maaaaybe two slots for feral druids that are SUPER dedicated to the class, like willing to farm for top-tier healing, tanking, and dps gear and willing to play any of the three roles as needed. A single Ret pally once they can get their hands on a Nightfall will be OK. Beyond that, the answer is almost universally no. I'm just not a fan of trying to carry people who don't pull their weight, and I don't expect anyone in the guild to put up with it either. If you come to raids as subtlety spec before hitting the AP thresholds where that's close to viable, we're going to notice on damage meters. Ditto POM/pyro mages, BM hunters, etc etc.

Things will probably relax once current-tier content is on super-heavy-duty farm mode and people want to spec for pvp between content releases. But really, I don't want to guild with people who need to be begged to grok the theorycrafting for their class and show up ready to perform. It's just not cool to treat your guildmates like that.

unless its a tryhard guild I dont see the problem in having a few hybrids.. it was said before in a different thread, if you are dedicated enough you can make it happen and not even be the last dps on the list.

also I dont see why people will object less competition on their precious tier sets :p

not going to argue though... each to his own

Yeah exactly. that's what I was thinking. Its just hilarious that even TODAY, people are still militant Nazi about this subject. Its like dude.. You're going to kill all the bosses on your first run in HALF the time!

Why should 39 other people have to carry the one person insisting on being a special snowflake? Just because it *can* be done, doesn't mean it should be.

So out of touch with the bigger picture

What is this "bigger picture" you speak of? A world where everyone can play whatever they want and there are no repercussions?

Because I'm pretty sure if every single priest decided they HAD to play shadow, every single warrior insisted on arms, all mages needed to be fire... your raid would not progress very far.

Are hybrid specs ok? Certainly. A feral druid fills a roll in a raid environment as does a shadow priest (though not with 8 debuff slots) and an enhancement shaman. But should every class spec non optimally because they should be able to do whatever they want? Probably not.

It's not about playing whatever spec you want and screw everyone else, it is about making a raid run smoothly and efficiently so people can have fun.

Though I do understand people have different definitions of fun.

Well you got me there. I obviously forgot my elementary school where I learned no two snowflakes are alike.

In my experience 30 people carry the other 10 no matter what the spec is.
