Rather than an hour levelling to 5 to spam they would have to put in 5-6 hours for 10 and 10-15 hours for level 15.

They would be restricted, as soon a the spam started GM would ban account and another 15 hour needed till they could spam again.

You could ban the word 'gold' in chat and not display the chat message with it in, or when banning gold seller accounts, query for there IP address first and then ban the IP address to block out there computers.

While i would make it harder, it would be easy to rewrite their bots to adjust to that.

1600 accounts dedicated to gold advertising have been banned today.
We upgraded the chat spam protection with the maintenance. The protection is now active on the PvE realm aswell.

When you stop these people via means they can detect, they will continually look for ways around it. I would suggest subterfuge. Don't let them know that you've detected them as a gold spammer, instead let their chat messages go through, except only to themselves or perhaps people on their ip subnet, so they will be spamming themselves all day and be none the wiser.
