Spec whatever you want, go to the guild that appreciates you for what you want to offer, though all the hardcore guilds will keep their doors shut for you.
This is the answer.

I am going to choose the build which I find most useful and enjoyable, and do the best I can in it. I should not have to reverse my choice and cater to what other people want me to be. That is not a fair thing to do, and nor do I believe people should be rejected from dungeons and raids for it. Everybody expecting warriors to be tanks, and priests to be healers, for example. I would rather not fill either of those roles, as they can be quite stressful, and people expect you to play it correctly. In this game I would like to relax, and as a result would like all of my characters to be damage dealers, if possible. That is a simple role in which very little can go wrong, which is why I prefer it.
Although I am not planning to join a guild, as I like to play alone, I am still concerned about trying to join dungeons and raids. People can be very stubborn, and I fear they will not allow people into their groups who differ from their expectations. For this reason I may have no choice but to fill the appropriate roles sometimes. That may not be necessary, however. There may be some who are more understanding, so I will wait and see how it turns out. Either way, as long as people try their best to help the group, I think that is all that truly matters.
Please play how you want. it is a game afterall. You consider people making you respec as selfish. They consider you playing with a "subpar" spec as selfish. These are two types of people who will never see eye to eye and you should just avoid eachother. Why would you want to be in a guild with people who don't agree with you? The most hardcore guilds will not have many if any hybrids. You have to make the decisions of whether you want to play the spec you want, or whether you want to be in a hardcore guild that has more progression.

Im glad you can understand this. why are you so upset that they don't want you then?
You want to play the spec you want.
you know they don't want your spec.
you don't want to join their guild anyway.
What is the problem here?
