Believe it or not, im a casual too. I have a full time job and a family. I like being able to raid with people who are specced "correctly" so I know I can complete the raid in the limited amount of time I have. I choose to join a guild that thinks like me so I get the most enjoyment that I can. You are more than willing to choose to join a guild that thinks like you. Im not saying that guilds like that don't exist, but the vast majority of guilds do not allow a lot of hybrids. That was the question the OP asked. I gave the answer.

"Thankfully alot of people dont agree with you!" Apparently they do.

I have no problem with you raiding as a hybrid spec if that's what u consider fun. Back in retail I was a moonkin. But to raid I had to play as resto because that's what the raid needed. If I was a GM, I would not invite you unless you were the spec I needed. You are free to join a casual guild.

Play the game how you want. im not mad at you for doing that. Don't get mad at me for me telling you that you wont be invited to serious guilds. A question was asked, an answer was given. I have nothing personal against anyone.

Is this thing still going on?

Spec whatever you want, go to the guild that appreciates you for what you want to offer, though all the hardcore guilds will keep their doors shut for you.

Although I understand wanting your group to be able to handle themselves as efficiently as possible, I believe that all players should be allowed to make their own choice in their talent trees. I am going to choose the build which I find most useful and enjoyable, and do the best I can in it. I should not have to reverse my choice and cater to what other people want me to be. That is not a fair thing to do, and nor do I believe people should be rejected from dungeons and raids for it. Everybody expecting warriors to be tanks, and priests to be healers, for example. I would rather not fill either of those roles, as they can be quite stressful, and people expect you to play it correctly. In this game I would like to relax, and as a result would like all of my characters to be damage dealers, if possible. That is a simple role in which very little can go wrong, which is why I prefer it.

Although I am not planning to join a guild, as I like to play alone, I am still concerned about trying to join dungeons and raids. People can be very stubborn, and I fear they will not allow people into their groups who differ from their expectations. For this reason I may have no choice but to fill the appropriate roles sometimes. That may not be necessary, however. There may be some who are more understanding, so I will wait and see how it turns out. Either way, as long as people try their best to help the group, I think that is all that truly matters.
Best of journeys in Azeroth, and may nature bless you.

Unfortunately, yes it still is going on - the min/max elitists want to maintain their place in the world and the only way they know how to do so is to continually spread lies and misinformation as can be seen in this and other threads.

I think that I can speak for the other hybrids by saying we wouldn't even want to be in their guild in the first place.

This is the answer.

Please play how you want. it is a game afterall. You consider people making you respec as selfish. They consider you playing with a "subpar" spec as selfish. These are two types of people who will never see eye to eye and you should just avoid eachother. Why would you want to be in a guild with people who don't agree with you? The most hardcore guilds will not have many if any hybrids. You have to make the decisions of whether you want to play the spec you want, or whether you want to be in a hardcore guild that has more progression.

Im glad you can understand this. why are you so upset that they don't want you then?

You want to play the spec you want.
you know they don't want your spec.
you don't want to join their guild anyway.

What is the problem here?

Wow what's wrong with you guys, nobody is saying you're not allowed to play whatever build you want, we're just saying most guilds won't want you playing with them, that's all.

Shouldn't you be off going OOM in a 5 man somewhere? Maybe uploading videos of the ten minutes your guild allowed you to tank this week on trash?

Lawl - yet another example of how stupid you are - Rank 1 Consecration is 135 mana every 8 seconds

Shouldn't you be wanking off your fellow forum trolls and having them OOM all over your face?

No hybrid wants to be in an elitist min/max guild - yet the elitist min/maxers want to shit on other guilds who have them.

I have not witnessed that. Im not saying it doesn't happen but I don't see it. Why do you care if they "want to shit" on you? Why not just do what any adult does and just ignore them?
