I wonder if we'll ever see a guild that allows any spec from every class while clearing all content with it.

Ya it can happen. Theres definetly unexplored routes. I used to run an arcane/shadow damage 5 man group with some friends. Arcane mage, Balanced druid (+3% crit in form), Warlock w/ imp shadow bolt (+20% shadow dmg on crit x4) and casting Curse of Shadow (-75 arcane/shadow resistance +10% damage), and finally a shadow priest in shadow form (+15% shadow dmg) w/ Shadow weaving (+15% shadow invulnerability). Usually our druid would dps in normal form and off heal with shadowpriests bubble + natural damage healing. IT was awesome to say the least.

Theres that and if youre horde you could combo with having a couple enhance shamns and 3-4+ boomkins with stormstrike giving +20% nature damge x2 every 20 seconds. People also don't realize that with off specs you are bringing in more than just a 1 dimensional role. If your hybrids are smart they'll use their mana to heal when the raid needs stabilizing when things start going crazy. And a GOOD druid regardless of his spec should be innervating main healers.

Just gotta be creatie, execute well, and have people on the same page and not just gear hungry with elitist attitudes.

Topic is Religios Extremism that should be reported.

There is a Trinket that both Paladin and Warrior need.
ok

The Guild gives that to Warrior because "more viable" .

The Warrior gets his gear and later leave his Guild.
The Paladin stay and try to be helpful and doing his best to deserve his role still.

The Warrior that have greater benefit now left the Guild .
Now the Guild with hope of "greater benefit" lost his benefit thanks to the min/max elitism .

Unorthodox refers to something that is not accepted by the "normalities" of society. Things that are considered "abnormal", or "eccentric" for reasons of religion or philosophy.

We should never allow such topic names to stay in forum. Also this Topic names should be reported and removed .

The main thing is.

No one gives a shit. Whether you were the very first person to clear new content or even the one that's been doing it for months. No one really cares. Its not a matter of whether an unorthodox spec can complete a dungeon its whether people enjoy this particular players company.

And if you're just narcissistic and want to say you completed it with no problems. Well might aswell say you beat rage fire chasm. At the end of the day, you still aren't exploring past mars.

woot? Was this really nessicary? I gathered that people dont always like the 2 "fanatical" paladins that are on these forums, but the guy made a valid point here imo. I dont think its fair to give loot to the warrior by default just because of spec, disregarding all personal aspects and dedication to the class & guild etc.
Anyway, shame on Thatoneguy for bumping this thread again, 19 pages later it was overdone and all has been said, let it rest now

I'm a little scared by some of the reactions here.

In short it's pretty much this: group with the people that have the same idea of fun as you have. I would totally love a group with uncommon specs if those people are having a ton of fun playing those specs. We would just play the game to play the game, not to be server first, but everyone would have fun and try real hard to prove that it is possible to have fun and down bosses at the same time.

It wouldn't be as fast or as efficient, but the sheer pleasure of being with like minded people would be the best reward to me.

Then again, I also wouldn't stop others from getting an optimalized run if that's what's important to them. I simply wouldn't join their group, as it would be disastrous for both sides.

Considering most groups want to rush through you might indeed have a hard time pugging. Then again, playing a spec against your will is not my idea of 'gaming'. I'd rather not have a run then something I don't enjoy.

edit:

You can play optimalized all you want but if you don't get this:

The raid will still blow up :))))

Orthodoxy wrote:Nothing you said justifies bringing subpar specs to raid over the tons of people willing to roll with viable ones. Can Naxx be done with elemental shamans and ret Paladins? Possibly. The question isn't can it be done, the question is why should it. None of the walls of text you have posted addresses this question.

Urgh, not gonna look up the spongebob FUN song but you know... the answer to your question is "because FUN".
There are no two sides, there's only the group.

Holy Bologne sauce! Its been.. what, ~8 years since I've seen the original animated website created just for the purpose of that fight in Karazhan with Flame Wreath! :D

Anyhow, its possible to do both, fun is easier, efficiency is harder as you have to prove it to other people.

INC personal story: I've been a Druid classleader and main heal/assist in Immortalis, a guild that was pushing for server first against other guilds and was very dedicated, from gear switching and tons of potions, flasks, buffs like from blasted lands and such. And was allowed to switch to Moonkin aka Space Chicken and made many, many mages and warlocks cry for winning Staff of Dominance with my hefty DKP! Sure, sometimes the DPS had to give way for utility and assist on specific fights. But as a moonkin, it was a great feeling to liberate this "undesired, unwanted" spec and allow it to live free even in Vanilla WoW environment <3 !

So yeah, even in semi-hardcore progressive guilds, back in the day when UI addons crashed like Windows ME, it was possible to be silly wrong-spec and yet to have fun!

Don't forget, TBC will come in 2 years and Booonkins are very strong in there! (2k rating in arena with good mage easy peasy)

I will just leave this here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kfr3602ANI

so if you wanna play oomkin, enh shammy or cat dps - not sure that anyone will take you in their raid or even dungeon group

I think those roles mentioned are fine for dungeons, but raids? Nope.
