Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

I never played alliance pre wotlk, always did horde. So I'm going to be rolling a human this time, but I really want to get a cat mount (not the ugly pvp one) because horses are boring.

My understanding is that in vanilla, grey quests give reduced reputation and that the cloth quartermasters will not exist on the server until later. So it seems the most reasonable (or only) way to get another race's mount is to level in their areas and do the quests while they are at least green.

I'm wondering if leaving Elwynn at 10, doing a few quests in the nelf noob zone, then doing quests in darkshore/ashenvale/stonetalon/desolace will be enough to get a human with 10% rep bonus to exalted with Darnassus, preferably before level 40. Has anyone done this?

I understand that there are no mage or lock trainers in that area for alliance, so I'd have to go back to IF to train, but I'm ok with slowing down my leveling for the sake of a vanity mount.

That may not be necessary. I believe there is small faction of nightelves who you can do gather quests for to build up rep, and eventually be able to get a snow cat to ride (wintersaber I think it's called).

If you don't mind grinding that is. They're alliance only in Winterspring.

best strat is from level 1 go to teldrasil and do all the quests there and darkshore, then any other zones that have quests that give darn rep. After that (if not exalted, not sure how much rep you get if you do literally every single rep quest) you need to turn in morrowgrain for the remaining rep

Just get to Teldrassil as soon as practical. No higher than level 5 otherwise the initial Start quests will start to go grey. Progress is pretty straight forward:

Teldrassil - 1-10
Darkshore - 10-20
Ashenvale - 20-30
Stonetalon - 15-25

If you do all the quests you should be exalted by the end of ashenvale/stonetalon.
If not there are Night Elf quests in:
Desolace - 30-40
Ferelas - 40-50
Felwood - 48-55

Or turn in repeatables like Morrowgrain or cloth to the rep vendor in Darnassus (Think its wool?)
And yes, Night Elf cat mounts are cool.

I get exalted with Darnassus with all of my characters, and this is exactly right. If you are not exalted already, doing a few quest in Ferelas around lvl 40 will, in my experience, be enough to get exalted.

The cloth quartermaster is not available until patch 1.11.1

PvP server added them around BWL, and also the prenerf mounts were removed.

Do u get the pre-nerf mounts at lvl 40 or 60? and do they cost 100 or 1000 gold? I just want to make it clear from the beginning.
