Something wrong

by jamusa1996 » Mon Oct 26, 2015 2:32 pm

So this it's my first time on vanilla (by far i'm in love) and i think i'm doing something wrong. I'm at level 13 and all the mission in Thelsamar are blocked or too difficult for my level. Usually i don't like to see guides or walkthroughs, because i enjoy more doing it by myself. But i don't want to kill mobs until i die from old...

So what i'm doing wrong?

Thanks for reading

What I am doing, since i'm leveling multiple characters, is have them logged off at inns or cities for rested exp. If you do quests and kill mobs on the way to and from the quests with rested exp active, then when you finished all the quests in the area, you will be the right level for the next zone.

If you are only playing one character and will be playing regularly making rested less of a factor, then you will need to grind mobs a bit. To and from quests as well as to gain a few bars of some levels when you run out of quests in an area but need to be higher for the next region.
Look up vanilla regions by level and it will tell you areas that you should look for quests based on your level.

If you want an addon then questie is one that i've heard of.

Good luck!

I find the best method is to keep two zones on the go at once - so since you're in Loch Modan, run down to Westfall (take the Deeprun Tram from Ironforge to Stormwind, then follow the road west through Elwynn Forest into Westfall) and do some there, until you lvl up a bit, then you'll find Westfall quests are getting tough and it's time to go back to Loch Modan. Much easier when you've got more quests to do, plus you get to explore more of the world :)

13 is perfect for Darkshore. If you head north from loch modal I to the wetlands and follow the path all the way to the west into the harbor, you can catch the boat to Darkshore and go from 13 to 16 very quickly. You can stay after 16, but I usually hit Westfall at that level and knock out those quests as quickly as I can. That usually takes me to 19 or so.

Vanilla questing was definitely something along the lines of "Zone Ping Pong".

At 10-12, depending on if you cleared your started zone into obscurity, I would recommend you head to Loch. On the way to loch you want to go through the southern gate out of Dun Morough. This route will allow you to pick up the first quests for the troggs, In defense of the Kings lands. Do that chain as far as you can, then head to thelsemar. Pick up the two quests you can from there, rat ears and blood sausage, then head up to the northern pass guard "burrow" and pick up the miner gear quest. Once you are done all those quests, the remainder of the quests you may get should be orange. At that point, head to west fall and proceed to do all the yellow quests there. You should be 15 by the end of west fall with a few orange quests to spare, at which point you can travel back to loch and do the higher quests on the east side of the map. Then you can bounce back west fall for the remainder of those quests and hit up Lakeshire at about 16-17.

You only have to do two of the three zones, instancing makes up the difference. If you don't plan to instance you should hit up dark shore as well. I choose to do Loch first because it has less quests than west fall and is seemingly easier for players fresh out of the starter zones. Plus West fall has its quests sprawled all over the map while loch's lower quests are all on the west side of the map.

Heavily recommend Darkshore. Sure it might be a trip to walk, but the amount of quests in the zone compared to westfall/loch modan is rather big (including the stranded turtle quests) and you can easily go 12/13-18 in Darkshore so you can do the remainder of quests in eastern Loch Modan after, plus do the higher level quests in Westfall to get the Deadmines quests in the end.

Yep this is Vanilla, unless you have 100% rested exp all the time don't expect do blow through all the zone quests then move cleanly onto the next zone.

I end up doing 2 equal level zones (or more) at the same time.
EG at 13 go to Darkshore, do all the green/yellow quests, then relocate to Westfall and do the same, then possibly a few of the simpler Redridge quests, then go back to Darkshore to do some more quests that are now yellow.

In those zones you don't stay long, I tend to pick up the simpler "Kill all the mobs!" style quests that you can blow through fast. :)
