Character Transfer upon Player Loss?

by Aadas » Mon Nov 09, 2015 11:30 am

Hey everyone,

before you start spamming this thread with "get outta here, character transfer is retarded" please hear me out. I am against transfers of characters inbetween the PVP & PVE server aswell. Now, I would like to play on the PVE server personally. I don't mind the smaller population at all and I prefer the PVE version of the game. However, while I do enjoy the PVE version more I rank stability of the server even higher. While the populations on both servers are very smooth currently I was wondering what was going to happen to the characters of the PVE server if it was to die out for whatever reason. Is there any chance that if the server dies out it'll get "merged" onto the PVP server so I won't lose my character or do I have to expect the loss of my character. If the second is the case I would most likely play the PVP server. Has there been any statement from the staff about this topic?

Thank you.

The population of the PVE server seems very stable, yesterday there were 2700 people online. During peak (EU) times there's always 2200-2500 at least online. In off peak times (EU sleeps) you still get at least 1000 people online. We have lots of guilds and you usually always find someone relatively fast to do some elite quests with you or dungeons. At least that's what I experience on alliance side.

Everything else would be pure speculation. But given how professional the Nost staff seems I doubt the server will die anytime soon. In my opinion it's a success story and here to stay :).

I believe 3000 people were also the numbers Blizzard had on their early servers in the first 2 years so I think it's pretty good. I'm more annoyed by the 8000+ players on the PVP server, it really becomes overcrowded :D.

It just won't die.
I've waited for almost 9 years to get a Vanilla PvE server and hell, I'll never leave this one.
Thank you very much again Nost team!

Like Soulxlock and TomDeBaere said, I think the server is here to stay. By Blizz's own standards on release, the PvE server is a medium to high population server. And the PvP server has already shown that the quality of Nost's content is more than good enough to hold on to players.

Pure Speculation: I wouldn't be surprised if the Nost staff already had a plan in case the server started to die. They are professional and it appears they really thought through this server release. I'm not surprised that we haven't heard anything though - Why undermine your own server by even suggesting the possibility it might die?
