Quiz in World

by Qler » Thu Nov 12, 2015 12:15 am

So heres the thing:

I was posting a quiz-addon in World-chann to entertain people. And people actually really liked it and participated. Then, some people cried because they cant find groups anymore. I told them to join /lfg, a channel with such purpose, but they just kept crying and yelling "report that idiot". So... what to do here? people ask for the quiz everyday via whisper and shit, and i think its a nice thing to do once a night.

Greetings,

you can be reported for spamming but not for hosting a quiz. Do not spam the questions or answers and you're fine when it comes to server rules. And yes, the LookingForGroup channel is sadly under utilized.

thanks for the answer! whats the definition of spam tho? tbh, i could argue that LFM [inserrt random instance] could be perceived as spam. Theres a LFG chann for that. Or the people who spam their guild-recruitment. Also here, theres the guild recruitment channel. Now if i run this quiz addon, it automatically answers to people if they said the right answer. Sometimes theres a second line giving the time needed. ( only if record ). Then, with a 10 seconds delay, the next question is asked. I dont consider this as spam , and if people feel annoyed they can put me on ignore right? and if they complain about not finding groups anymore -> lfg chann. ( same for guild recruitment ).

I dont wanna get banned, but i still want the people to enjoy the quiz. The time i ask the first question, instantly shitloads of people reply, so theres a huge demand i guess.

could u please answer to that? last concern i promise.

Why don't you just make a private channel for your quiz instead of bothering everyone in world who doesn't care about it? Even if it's not spam by Nost's definition it's still inconsiderate.

>bothering everyone

its maybe 10%. and of those 10%, 50% then participate in the quiz.

What Bit suggested seems like the best option.

Advertise your quiz channel in /world every once and a while. People who want to participate can join the specific quiz channel.

I understand how world is not lfg channel, but I don't think trivia games belong in an 'established' channel that is already used by basically the entire server for finding groups/guilds/crafting/trading.

And if it's 1% it's still inconsiderate. (Though i would estimate about 80%)

Why not create a channel specifically for your quizzes (e.g. QuizChannel), and announce the existence of the channel in World once a day before your post your quiz(zes)?
