Late to join the initial hype?

by Varec » Sun Dec 06, 2015 3:30 am

I was looking forward to the release of PvE realm on Nost because I have always wanted to play on a brand new vanilla server. However, when PvE realm was finally released, I didn't have enough time to play WoW. Now it's been month and a half since the PvE realm begun, and I was just wondering whether it's a bit late to join the initial hype of the new server?

I've always wanted to begin on a new server, find a cool guild and clear the content as it is being released. Could someone tell me in which stage the PvE realm is, patch and raid-wise?

Sorry if some of my questions are a bit noobish, I'm still quite new to vanilla. :)

Some guilds have MC & Onyxia on farm, but there's still a big chunk of the server leveling and always will be. The only thing you're really missing out was 200 people fighting for mob-tagging in the starting zones day one. If you start now you'll have no problem following the hype train and patch progression. You have half a year until BWL comes out, so no rush really.

I've been talking with a lot of people who still haven't filled their rosters yet. There is still plenty of time to get in on the fun =)

Plenty of time, welcome to the server, Varec! A month and a half in vanilla terms ain´t that much (except if you, and those you play alongside with, have a ton of time to spend on the game)

I hope you´ll find what you seek here and have a fantastic time! The server is great and so is some of the community as well, and as said, it´s less crowded now as well, so more enjoyable to level :)

Last night (8. DEC) i rolled my dwarf alt, so in the dwarf/gnome starting area, and there were like 4-5 of us relatively close-by at any time. Just a little taste for quest-mob competition, but a far, far cry from the day one madness. Glad to be given the chance to experience that, it was fantastic. I noticed the online population numbers have shrunk a bit, especially the after-midnight time, so, mostly the USA gamers, numbers dropped to about 1300, while the 'prime-time' when most of EU players are active is still going strong. Apparently some people had enough of it rather soon and bailed: lots of dead player corpses lying arouns just like that, abandoned, and relatively significant influx of new players (visible in the staring areas) means a pretty fast trend of joining/quitting the game. In my opinion, the vanilla version is too er..boring and tiresome for many new players compared to retail.
Another thing: I noticed several types of mobs had some new abilities i didnt remember from the original vanilla, like tthe murlocs in eastern Elwyn have some mysterious secret spell that deals flat ~30 damage (which is a lot when you are lvl 8 or so), some orc caster mobs in wetlands have now a skeleton minion by their side, which i dont remember seeing on Emerald Dream, or Kronos, and similar. I ike it, makes the game (grind) a bit more challenging and less stale. :)

Yup I was one of those people in Dun Morogh last night playing from about 6 PM MST - 2 AM and there was still a sizeable crowd in Ironforge and saw a couple people running around the zone all night. Loch Modan was completely empty though when I got there. Again I think what TOVAR said makes sense. The US primetime into late night is definitely smaller pop than EU primetime on the PvE server.

Also Loch Modan being empty could be a symptom of what he mentioned as well with people quitting early on. I did notice a large amount of corpses sprawled through the zone as well.

Its never too late. The horde side is a bit underpopulated (but still leveling) so it may seem slower. The alliance side is bustling and has players of various levels on at all times of day. The population is very respectable as the PvE server has an average number of logged in players equal to that of a queued realm during retail vanilla.

We're still in MC/Ony as BWL has yet to be released. Azuregos should be showing up any time now.

I don't think so. I keep re-rolling my character and only playing when my main MMORPG is under maintenance. There's always a lot of new people at starting areas.
