Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Hello everybody.

I'm planning to make a new too on this server and feel like blocking and dodging attacks with a shield is the style of play I want to go with.

Here are some questions I have regarding the current server meta and the community.

Disclaimer: I know that most of the questions are abstract and you never know the future, but I want to hear your opinions nevertheless since rolling a tank on a vanilla server is quite a commitment, you know .

1. I'm active in late US PST time. I created a new toon and /who shows around 600-800 players for me. Are there any server activity like dungeons and raids happening this time? Is it possible to find a group for a dungeon / raid after 19:00 sever time?

2. Is there any demand on tanks here? Considering it will take maybe 3-4 months to level a toon, do you see tanks still will be in demand? Or are all guilds already have filled with tanks? Tons of tanks already leveling and fill the gaps?

3. As a plan B, in case I wouldn't be able to find spot in a guild, I'm considering organizing the PUGs by myself as an MT. How bad this idea is? Is it viable and how are people currently do PUGs around? In a 3-4 months?

Good tanks will always be in demand. Especially in non-raid grups, a.k.a. dungeons. There is a 'trend' of some sort emerging where raid BiS geared tanks run dungeons on pay, like, they demand 15-20 gold (5 gold /player) per run of Strat, Scholo, Lbrs etc. Apparently, that is a way for them to gather some money for their needs since prot-specced warriors have hard time farming...anything. So, people do need tanks.

I'm in the same boat. US PST.

I just started here and have a level 32 rogue and a level 10 mage. The higher level I've gotten, the more of a demand I've seen for tanks. So yes, they are definitely in demand. However, don't forget that leveling a warrior is kind of awful.

Anyways, there's lots of people who play online at US times and you can find dungeon groups easily. It also seems like there's at least 1-2 US raiding guilds per faction that have cleared everything so far.

What faction are you rolling?

Yeah, I can see dungeons having high demand for tanks is what always happens. But I was rather curious about raid situation, although I may assume it is too early for it since server is rather new.

Anyway, I decided to give it a try and you can find me under the name MoonShard alliance side.

Hey there, MoonShard, welcome to the server! You´ve made an excellent choice, coming here

As you say so yourself, it is hard to really predict the future, but I´m quite sure you will be able to find what you seek, both when it comes to grouping as a tank, being needed for Dungeons and Raids, as well as a Raid guild when that time comes.

I´m from the EU myself, so I cannot quite comment on the activity during US peak hours though, sadly - and I am not into raiding anymore. Might I suggest you visit the Guild section of the PvE server - maybe you can get an idea of the US raiding guilds there are - and at which time their raids take place? (Assuming there are some, of course!)

As for PuGing raids, I think that´s manageable too, especially as a MT. (But again, not familiar with the raiding environment on private servers)

As for levelling Guilds, I think there are -plenty- around, as levelling is what keeps many of us busy
