Why is the warrior the most common class?

by fiveeauxfour » Sun Jan 17, 2016 5:15 am

I have no idea why this class is so played? Is it because it is viable melee dps and people don't like to play rogues? The most common LFM for groups I see is tank, and with all the warriors I just cant see why. Is there any real answer or is it just the way the cookie crumbled?

Most likely because of vanilla PvP videos with insane crits. To me, it was always most fun to tank, fury warrior in pve is boring as hell.

Because everybody is advising new player to roll a tank hoping that guy will fill in their dreams of instant BRS/Strat groups. (check out all new player threads).

Indeed. Because of videos with Swifty and Maydie every wannabe warrior dreams to be a legend. Just like back in the days.

Are you honestly saying that as a rogue? At least a warrior has to monitor his rage generation and occasionally change up his rotation, you have the exact same rotation no matter what.

What is your point? You don't agree with my personal (obviously subjective) opinion? Feel free. To me, rogue is a more versatile role, hence more fun. Let's not derail the thread though, this is about warriors.

It's the standard fighter/warrior/meleewhatever class. People always play them a lot, smashing heads in is fun and stuff. People like melee combat, but don't want to be sneaky and squishy like rogues.

And for the guy who was asking about how there still can be no tanks available. It's because tanking is stressful as fuck. It is immediately noticeable when you fail. And especially 5 man tanking is actually pretty damn hard as a warrior, since you don't have any aoe threat. You need to be pretty strong willed to handle it, in my experience. Tanks are often automatically assumed to be the leader of groups too, so all the people who don't like to lead don't want to tank either.

That's a pretty much perfect assessment. I've always healed for a living, not necessarily as a competent one mind you, and because you have to work in tandem with the tank (kind of like bass and drums) you know straight off if the tank is competent or not, and of course the tank knows if you're up to scratch too.

Tanks and healers have the most stressful roles in instances because wipes are easily attributed to one of the other. That's why when we can blame someone else we do it with gusto just to even the slate a bit. I like tanks and I love good ones, they should be cherished and loved a lot more than they are.
