This thread went off the rails pretty quickly.
We do not 'own' Nostalrius. We run it. It's always been our view that we create and we develop and we give it away for free. We do reserve the right to ban abusers, hackers, cheaters etc. in order to protect our legit players but the essence of our server is that our community takes ownership of the server the same way a fan of a sports team calls it "his" or "her" team.
The level of toxicity towards a certain population has gotten out of hand many times and we've addressed it when it happens. I'll remind people that there is an assumption that that certain population is all "Chinese" but that is not true. Many of our players are Korean, Japanese, or from SEA countries as well as from China.
At the same time, there are many legitimate concerns from players about the difficulties in playing with populations that they cannot always communicate with and those shouldn't be disregarded as "racism".
We have already recruited some GMs that speak some eastern languages and have proven invaluable to combating the sale of characters and services, especially those that are advertised on our servers. We will continue to recruit more of these types of GMs as long as we have applicants that are qualified.
